The pass was established early in the game. Wouldn't you expect that to open up the running game more than it did?

Much, much better understanding of where the LBs and safeties will be on the field.

Well that sucks, 2 losses wont win the west.

DB's looked bad for about half a quarter, the good news is they went in at halftime and made some adjustments

And according to DandyDon these were some of the adjustments:

...before making some halftime adjustments that righted the ship. Part of those half-time adjustments included replacing senior Craig Loston at safety after he injured his lower leg and interjecting some hotshot freshmen defensive backs at the corners.

So did our freshmen DB's outperform the 2 Jalens?

So does that speak to Les' favor of him starting or lack of scheme knowledge by others??

Whoah, So les does have his hand in the defense? He must because someone is playing that the fans dont think should be.

The D is young, but really only struggled in the 2nd quarter. I think we will see improvement come sec play. A lot of young guys still getting their feet wet.

most are unwilling to call out Mills (who had a shocker last night).

He got beat once by UABs fastest WR, he'll be ok

I'll take that if we can have a competent and good looking, well run team. Expecting perfection every year is just setting yourself up for a let down.

Do you think Mills will be able to stand SEC caliber WRs?. . . I mean, if Welter needs to go after 2 games' performance, I'd say Mills needs to go as well.

But, of course, that's not fair to either guy. We expect both of them to play better. Chavis will ensure that the best players are on the field, whether the fans agree or not.

He lost contain several times, missed a couple tackles, took a couple bad angles. It was more than just one play, and it goes back to last week too.

My point is, why does everyone give Mills the benefit of the doubt and assume that he'll improve, but not Welter? I mean, if Welter's on the field, obviously Chief thinks he deserves to be there.

My biggest concern BY FAR...our safety play needs to improve greatly.
They have been taking terrible angles for two weeks now.
They are reacting very late to the deep pass and our tackling has been very suspect.
I think Ronald Martin is getting better every day and will be a player...but I'm worried about Loston...

We need to get a little more athletic at the LB...however, I'm not too worried because we have the players there and the coaching staff made the adjustment in the second half.

Offensively, continue to develop...the running game will loosen up with this passing attack.
I also think we are holding back a little.

He may be OK, but he's no Peterson or Claiborne.

Mills looked great against TCU, and he only gave up the on TD. Every corner gets beat sooner or later. I am way more concerned about Welter. He just doesn't have the talent. I like the guys he plays hard and is usually in the right spot, but he gets beat.

Our defense will not be what we are use to seeing under Chavis. We'll give up more yards and points this year than any other under Chavis. It should get better as the year goes on, but it won't be a typical year.

Agreed you can't lose all that talent then expect to be equally as good. Barrow needs to be MLBput the speed guys on Will / Sam

Quality depth on defense worries me a little but.

The offense looks fantastic, but I'm worried that when we play a team like Florida, Alabama or Auburn we will have to spread the ball around more. These teams will key in on Landry and Beckham which will force a Mett to spread the ball around. I would like to see the ball spread around in anticipation for the big games.

Lol. So Mills as a true sophomore isn't as good as two top 10 picks, cut him from the team!!

Very Funny. Do you see him developing into a a first rate corner?
How about some of the new freshmen like Tre White?

UAB saw something on LSUs right defensive side they liked. Not sure what it was, but they ran lots of plays that way.
