Idk what it is but this board loves to hate on Floyd. And how quickly people forget how bad Hurd struggled. Hurd hopefully found a role he can build upon to keep being successful for us as we get closer to post season but he is not replacing Floyd nor is Floyd being moved out of the rotation.

So who else even has the capability to get through 5 innings? Money is the only other pitcher who’s ever even done it in the SEC and it’s not going to be him. Floyd is the only guy who can actually be a starter and even if his ERA remains between 4.50 and 5.00 that’s still under 3 runs per start which is fine for this team.

Why are some of you so hell bent on being contrarians to everything? Did you read what I said? Floyd has been bad in 5 out of his last 6 outings. That means he is most decidedly not giving LSU anything that is "fine" in those starts. And I said he wouldn't lose his spot "yet", but that he could if he doesn't pick it up and someone else steps up.

That last part is rather important to what I said, wouldn't you say? Since the OP is wondering if anyone else could step into a starting role, and others were saying they didn't see Floyd being removed, I'm saying that if someone like Hurd, or later down the road Coleman is stretched out and pitching well, those two are the answers to your question of who could get us through 5 innings. And if they are on, they can do so very effectively.

Nowhere did I suggest that any of this was a guarantee to happen, which is why I always carefully qualify the things I say, so as not to just shoot off at the mouth like so many on this board do. Including those who respond to me, without giving any thought to what I said, but who just want to disagree about something.

This is just categorically false.

6.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R vs Arkansas.

8.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R vs Ole Miss.

Which of these would you consider bad? Bc I’d take that one all day on a Saturday.

I don’t see Floyd coming out of the weekend rotation. He struggled on Saturday but he was solid the previous two weekends. You just have to live with 2 homeruns a game. You just hope they’re solo.

The only reason I could see him moving to the pen is because while you may be able to extend Coleman to 5 or 6 innings before the end of the season, you probably won't be able to throw him twice.

So, if you think Coleman can perform as well as Floyd as a starter (it's looking to me like he can), Floyd may be more valuable in the pen than Coleman.

That certainly isn't me. He was hit hard against Bama, but I actually thought he pitched well. His fastball was the best I've seen it. He has the potential to be very good. That changeup is pretty darn good now against left handers. If he can control that slider, I think he'll be well above average.
