I have a question:

Crowton has been successful with more experienced quarterbacks; not so good at developing them from the get go.

Would Jefferson be better off with Crowton again next year, now that he'll have had 2 bowl seasons of practice as the starting QB, plus 14 starts under his belt?

Or would Jefferson be better off with a new offensive coaching staff, system and set of schemes to learn for next season?

Firing Crowton sets the offense back... it's a stupid decision if it comes to fruition.

Our playcalling has sucked pretty bad, but I'm not sure if it's because we had the play and just didn't want to run it, or the offensive leaders just couldn't pull it off.

I think JJ lacks a lot of the fundamentals that would really help crowton. I think crowton may also lack a lot of the fundamentals that would really help JJ. Something has to give.

I'm not really sure how to answer your question with anything other than it is obvious the offense needs some direction, on and off the field.

Maybe now that JJ has some experience, the offense will be a little easier for him to run. Just a maybe, not really sure either way.

If JJ has this much trouble adapting to an offense, would it really help more to have a new one to learn?

I'm not sure its a good idea now to fire him, especially since the team is so entrenched into his system. I don't think its necessarily all coaching. Our O-line has been mediocre a lot, which makes it tough on JJ and te Running backs. All three starting RB's are out with major injuries as well. Our Defense which is pretty damn good can do just so much when they have to spend 2/3's of the game on the field, so they are exhausted by the 4th quarter. I say give him another year. If our results are the same, then major changes need to take place.

NO, because he had very experienced running backs and should have been explosive this season with running the ball, which would have opened up the passing game more. Yet Crowton has failed all season at doing this! If he can’t get it right with the talent that the tigers had his year, what makes people think ANYTHING will change next year???
Where was the “wild tiger” this year that was talked about so much in the offseason?
Zero misdirection, very little play action, and when LSU runs the option play, every person in the stadium and watching on tv knows it is coming... The dude is not very innovative and lacks ingenuity!
I think he needs to go!!!

An inexperienced offensive line trumps an experienced corp of RBs.

Misdirection, Play Action, and the Option are not the plays on which we base our offense.

It seems that nothing has changed in terms of JJ and his development at QB. Can you provide some evidence of JJ getting better at his "craft" compared to last year?

I'll hang up and listen.

I'd love to see what happens if an offense makes gimmicks the base of their approach.

This is not the same thing as using two trick plays on the last drive of one game.

We have 2 seniors?

The option is run by LSU's offense a lot,,, Where have you been??? And most of the time it is a wasted play because Crowton does not set it up very well. And JJ is not looking to run the ball!!!
AND,,, I know misdirection and play action are not plays on which our offense is based on, BUT if we would run them with the speed of Trindon and Shep and Lafell, it would spread the defense out thus giving room for Ridley (CS, KW) to run straight up the middle. See Ole Miss and McCluster!!! LSU could do this and be GREAT at it!!!
I've said this so many times, but once again; If we were to bring Lafell (or Shep, or Trindon) in motion, and fake the ball to them and hand it off off-tackle to Ridley, we would be as successful as all the other teams in College and Pro football have been in doing so. Plus the wrinkles off of this play would be to pitch the ball to Lafell (trindon or shep) and then even pitch and let shep throw the ball. Or fake to all the running backs and let JJ hit TT or Dickenson on a CROSSING patern!
Next you will say, "how do you know shep can pass, don't you think coaches know better..." Blah, Blah,,, Shep CAN throw the ball, and when you design and set up a play like this, one does not have to be the best passer to complete a big play! Which is what LSU need to beat Bama and Florida, but like the Ole Miss game – LSU did not even try.

The comment about the inexperienced O Line is just a copout!!!
