Greatest QB I ever saw put on an LSU uniform.
BabyTac: Just wondering, Why were you watching JR get dressed?

Just got a chance to finish reading it. Great article.

It just got where the game wasn't fun for me.
Game wouldn't be that much fun to me either if I had that much money in the bank. Think of all the hookers and blow he was missing out on.

I read the entire article. It was well written.
I used to run into JR at places like RolyPoly and WalkOns and talked to him and DBowe a lot.
I wish he had stayed at LSU one more year but it's hard to turn down that kind of money. Things would have been a lot different had he not gotten drafted to a shitty team with shitty coaches and shitty management.

All this crap would be far more believable if he hadn't blown up in the short time before the combine.

It also sounds like it was a really bad situation
This. Anyone who has completely blamed Russell for his situation is really being unfair. Oakland was a black hole and the absolute worst possible place to land for him.

Obviously you have not seen many. A quarterback should know how to read defenses, check off, maybe even know where the film room is.

I'd say the most physically gifted and talented QB I've ever seen put on an LSU uniform. As far as his size and physical attributes, I don't think there's any way he wasn't the best QB to ever play at LSU.
By those criteria he is also one of the very best NFL qb's of all time, along with Ryan Leaf.

You have got to be out of you mind....unless you are REALLY out of your mind!!
Dude was as lazy at LSU just like as he was in the pro's!
NEVER showed any kind of sense of urgency when calling the huddle or getting to the line.
His failure in the pro's was NOT a surprise!

Hodson is highly overrated compared to great QBs but LSU fans make him out to be Peyton Manning.
Hodson was really the earliest QB I remember. As far as my LSU watching experience, no one else was as awesome as JR was in 05 and 06.

most raw talent ever in an LSU uniform, but def not 'the greatest'.

In college you can get away with just being more physically gifted than everyone else. I can't speak to his on-the-field leadership, he might not have always made the best decisions, but he'll probably be the most physically gifted QB LSU will ever have.

Oh Dear Lord!
Hodson started as a freshman!! JR couldn't beat out Marcus Randall. Hodson held all passing records, BEFORE there was a spread offense. Hodson averaged 15.1 yards per reception. JR, 13.3 in their respective last year.

LSU qb's in the past 10 years alone I would prefer on the team over JR (no particular order)
Rohan Davey
Matt Flynn
Matt Mauck
Jarrett Lee
The college level game did not slow down for JR until the last half of his last year. Why anybody expected him to be ready to play in the NFL before 3-4 years in a system is beyond me.
