Input on going back to a 4-3, put Clark on the other DE opposite Gaye, make Jacoby the MLB, and put Cox and Bask on the outside.
Bring in BJ Ojo for a Cheetah package...

Do something.

I am upset that game is cancelled. However, it couldn't be better timing. Gives UF some time to cool off from their close loss. Gives us some time to do anything else.

Also seems like we had some early season injuries, something we have been able to avoid better than most teams. Give those guys some time to heal.

I think the only reason Anthony is starting over BJ is bc BJ is 210 and Offenses would just run it down his throat. Let them run it at Clark, he thrived last year at OLB position and he’s 230. He’s way more agile and mobile than Anthony, yet he appears totally lost at MLB. Jacoby is smart and a hell of a hitter, just not good in coverage. He won’t play safety in the NFL, just move him to MLB now and allow the “leader of the D” be the one who actually calls the D on the field.

DE- Gaye
DT- Ika
DT- Farrell
DE- Anthony
SLB- Clark
MLB- Cox
WLB- Stevens
CB- Stingley
CB- Ricks
FS- Harris
SS- Hampton

Remove Clark in the sub packages, play basic shell coverages, make the kids play assignment football, make sure they tackle and are fundamentally sound and go win a god damned football game. Then build from there.

I like it, but you think Farrell over Logan?

I think either or. I thought Farrell was a little better when he was lighter but Logan has battled injuries so it’s hard to tell. I wouldn’t mind having them both out there on passing downs.

I’d really like to see Stevens in that Derrick Brooks shell 2 role. I think he’s a perfect fit for that kind of OLB.

Baskerville should NOT be playing.

Like this but only change I would make is take Clark off the field entirely. Put Josh White at WLB and Stevens at Mike.

You’d have Cox as the Sam and Stevens in the Middle? Yea that could work too.

I think Cox is better in coverage and Stevens is better at tracking and tackling in the run game.

You have to realize that there are only 2 LBers on the field 99% of the time. So, Clark would be the outsider in your group for me and would be a backup to Stevens.
DE- Gaye, Anthony/ Ojulari, these 2 sharing time as they are now
DT- Ika, Farrell/Logan and play Roy a lot
LB- Stevens, Cox , Stevens being the signal caller and lining everyone up the front end of the defense
CB- Stingley, Ricks
S- Hampton, Harris , these 2 are young but they need to hit the film room and then trust their keys, their eyes and just react.
Nickel- Flott

We’re mostly in nickel type looks so the 2 LBs roles are closer compared to their responsibilities in base. Whoever it ends up being has to stick their nose in there and take people on. Clark was backpedaling downfield, refusing to take blockers on and our dline, especially the tackles, have to be more disciplined and keep our LBs clean on early downs.

I'll sub in any LB who's willing to take on blockers and stuff the run game. Clark has ideal measurables, but I'm tired of seeing him get pushed around and lost in the middle. Baskerville(sp) should probably have had more opportunity to prove himself as well.

Cox is also not an ILB. The same goes for him. He is a rangy OLB who hasn't shown he can stop the run either.

I agree, it’s showing how much Shelvin is being missed right now just from occupying a double team and not letting them immediately get to the LBers. I can’t tell you how many times that happened against Missouri. I’d like to see Stevens in Clark’s spot because he won’t shy away from the contact and has a better idea of what’s going on.

You’re right, when your MLB is soft and avoiding contact your defense has no heart. Just put on the replay of our games, the middle of our D is always moving backwards. We’ve gotta find a combination of LBs who are gonna attack the LOS and attack the ball. There’s way too much grabbing out there and not enough hitting.
