We can steamrolll as many teams as we want but if the final seconds its that close and we lose...its still a loss

Like FL we dominated them the whole game but ends up going down to the wire.....Lee actually won that game for us

And we can piss away a giant lead and/or make a furious 4th qtr comeback en route to a last-second go ahead score.... it's still a win

There are no almost's or shouldve's... in this game, you either do or you don't.

Kragthorpe is going to hold an open competition and the best man will win the job. Who's that going to be? I don't know but I'll get behind whoever it is.

As far as feeling sorry for JJ, it's a ridiculous notion IMO. JJ (for all his short comings) is a competitor and classy kid. All he wants to do is win and if that means taking a back up role, so be it. If he's the starter, go get em kid!

If you were JJ, would you want anyone feeling sorry for you? I know I wouldn't.

Competitor's don't think like that. So lets give him credit where credit is due and commend him for always doing his best, doing whatever was asked of him, and taking a lot of heat from fans right on the chin like a man.

I can argue that he did... we won't win 3 of the last 4 without him stepping up his game, but that's not my argument.

You can't look at JJ and the 11-2 record in the same vein because you'd be attributing a team effort to an individual player. It just doesn't work that way.

I dont believe that

Jefferson played as awful as he possibly could and they kept playing him
Krags still answers to Lester and JJ will start and play most/all vs Oregon

i disagree. I think JLee just wasn't a better alternative.

For all his woes JJ was a pretty good runner with the ball and I think GC liked that. Lee threw off his back foot and has zero mobility in the pocket.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad Jlee showed up when he did (see Tenn and UF) but JJ is the better QB IMO.

C'mon now, what you're saying is LSU won all the games on D TDs and it aint so. To say this, then you would have to say the D is responsible for LSU's 2 losses.
This is worse than saying all LSU's Ws are in spite of him.
Never mind he lead team in total O, 2nd in scoring O (1 TD less than SR) and 2nd in rushing.
I know he has room for improvement, but some of the bashing is just conjured up from thin air.

Les was as hands-on as it gets with recruiting Mett. You don't show that type of commitment to bringing in a player to have him ride the pine for a year of his eligibility.

I said vs. Oregon, not the whole year

Jefferson plays until he fricks up, Mett takes over.
Same as last season, except Mett > Lee (we all hope)

Yall are beyond help if you think Mettenberger starts that Oregon game

Let's get something established. To everyone involved in college football, this is a NC-caliber team. In much the same way that the 2007 LSU-VT game was used to vault one team into the game to the exclusion of the other, the season opener against the Ducks is going to have the same effect.

Miles isn't going to blow a game of that magnitude by playing his "favorite." His desire for another NC ring is greater than any favoritism towards a particular player, I promise you.

Mett has as good of a chance as JJ does.

JJ's favor
1. He's the incumbent and has SEC experience and something of a rapport with the WR corps.

Mett's favor
1. New OC puts all QBs on a proverbial equal footing.
2. It took JJ 3 years to grasp (most) of GC's playbook.
3. He may be physically more talented than JJ with a better football IQ.

Competition's Favor
1. Miles knows he has a team capable of winning it all THIS YEAR.

I see CLM easing him in game to game, possibly taking over starting job if all goes well. He'll be keen on having Mett SEC-ready for 2012.

Come on during the season he had 4 TDs total!! 10 INT

Out of 9 games he had 0 Tds with 8 Int......Do you think that will honestly cut it this year?

In his last 4 meaningful games of 2010 (meaning not ULM), these were his stats:

49/76 737 yds 5 TDs 2 INTs 42 rushing att 173 rushing yds 2 rush TDs.

Those numbers are actually drastically better than what he posted in his 2009 campaign. With that kind of production in 2010, we could be a dangerous team if Ware and Ford can provide about 1500-2000 between the two of them.

What about the other games, yeah im sure we can pick out his 4 best games and they are decent stats but what about games like vandy, forgot his stats on wvu but I dont think they were all that great.

I agree if ware and ford can do 1500-2000 between the two which I dont think should be any problem we could be dangerous.....

If JJ is the qb I think it will be because he has much improved because of the new OC and comp between Mett....but i wouldnt rule mett out.

JJs 2009 campaign overall was far better than 2010

They weren't his four best games, they were his four most recent games.

Not true. Check your stats.
JJ had 6 or 7 reg season rushing TDs.
Unless you say those don't count?

Haven't you been paying attention? JJ is a pocket passer. Duh.
