re: Should a 5th Year Senior QB Be Handled With Kid Gloves

quote:if you are talking about a shitty playcall and a missed blocking assignment by #72 (a complete whiff) where the d-lineman made contact with JJ within 3 seconds of the snap, then yeah, I agree with you.
And against WKU it cost us a fricking safety.
Posted on 11/15/11 at 7:25 pm to JWill409
You take the sack. That could have easily cost us 6 points.
Posted on 11/15/11 at 7:26 pm to John McClane
He took a three step drop and stutter stepped twice, no reason to get sacked. And certainly no reason to flail the ball in the air like that. It was an inexcusable play.
Posted on 11/15/11 at 7:32 pm to southernelite
Three step drop is expected on almost every pass play...unless its a 5 step drop...and obviously his first read was the lone reciever who was streaking down the field..I'm just saying..if theres no way he could get out of the box to throw it away, he did the right thing by taking the sack and relying on the defense to hold instead of throwing something up and maybe costing them 7..He only costed them 2.

So you tell JWill he should have just taken the sack (aka safety)?
GTFO
72 missed his assignment, if JJ tries to throw the ball away legally (i.e. doesn't end up intentional grounding) it could have cost us more than 2 points. Playcalling and o-line put him in that position. Contact within 3 seconds from a nose tackle.
JL would have crumpled like an accordion in that situation.

I think it is what it is at this point. We need them both for the best shot of winning the NC.
And, yes I do think both of them can have some issues with confidence from time to time. Whether it be from fans booing them, from people who, in the past, have said that Lee should tranfer, from people calling JJ names, from Crowton, from the way they have shared playing time, from whatever.
I also think that it would be extraordinarily great if we could all just support the both of them and cheer our assess off for whichever one was in at any given time. But it's obvious that some feel an overwhelming urge to bash one or the other. It's human nature I guess.

He did throw it up, aimlessly, and it was a dumbass decision.

How about the guy with three times more minutes of playing time taking a sack in the end zone? I guess it's OK to handle him with kid gloves?
JL has taken more undeserved crap from our coaching staff than any player in recent memory-yanking his arse after he guided the team to an 8-0 start and #1 rank is kid gloves? A token kneeldown as his only play in a blowout bowl win is kid gloves? Oh yeah, the other guy really "owns the pocket".
You should STFU "Coach Nat" and get back to your Biddy Basketball team.
ETA: Team Jefferswag is out in force in this thread. All that's missing from the circle is UC, Bee and Mayhaw. Do you guys work in shifts making sure JL gets appropriately slammed and/or pump your JJ sunshine at every turn?
He threw 2 interceptions against the best defense in the country not wearing P&G, after a streak earlier in the season where he ran off the #2 string of passes without an interception in LSU history. That includes a few decent QB's over the years like Bert Jones, Tommy Hodson, Rohan Davey and JaMarcus Russell. He has 4 sacks for the year. His "replacement" has 6 in only a few games, and certainly couldn't sniff the TD to Int ration JL has AFTER Alabama. But, yeah, JL needs to man up and learn to play.
What a bunch of dumbarses. This season can't end soon enough. I can't wait to see what next year's episode of Family Feud will be based on.

It's funny that dumb posters on here act like they could do better. Hell Tom Brady( one of the greates qbs on earth) basically had the same thing happen to him.

If you have to worry about a 5th year senior's "confidence" and "psyche," you have more problems than you thought. The game should have slowed down for him 3 years ago. He should not still be turning his back to avoid a hit, thus releasing the ball in any direction. He should be owning the pocket. Where does all this "confidence" talk come from?
Link? or are you just talking out your arse?

How do you know this?
Honest question, do you have inside knowledge to know all the reasons why the coaches make the decisions they do for the qb position?

Should a 4th year starter with all those games still be pouting on the sidelines when he was pulled and still holding the ball too long and and...
They are both mediocre at best.

I'm glad you know that Kreskin. And even if he did, what is the result. Oh, yeah, a safety, just like our mobile, dual threat QB got. Different QB, same result, even if your palm reading is accurate.

Let's see, we immediately manage to find playing time for JJ as soon as Unglesby restored his eligibility, but couldn't find any minutes for JL through the entire second half of the 2010 season, AFTER he saved our arse at least twice, and Les sent him in for one BS snap in a blowout Cotton Bowl. Yeah, he's been handled with kid gloves.
Glad to see you finished your dinner and made sure to pile on into this thread. Would have hated to see a bash Lee thread pass without you maintaining your 100% participation rate.

But the point is, JJ threw the ball in the air and could have easily gave up 6, but you can't he objective, youre handle tells me that much. JLee has outperformed JJ this season, that much is true.

Ah, yes, the name calling defense. Always a winner.
Use on the players, use it on posters that don't see with your wisdom and vision. It's what children do when they can't come up with anything else.

Don't be a hypocrite, are threads to bash JJ acceptable but Lee criticism is not?

Did you care more about Lee playing or winning because JJ played great that game and really was no reason to pull him?
Why is it so personal to you about play time of the qbs? Does it really matter who plays as long as LSU wins?
SOme of you need to get some perspective.
