I love Shaq, but that's just stupid.
Saban wanted the NFL, so he lied to his players and accepted the Miami offer on Xmas day.
Merry Christmas MFRS! :)
I forget what day it was he lied to Don Shula.

So, let me ask you this. Would you trade our 1 National title under Miles for 5 National Titles under Saban?
Having more national titles would be fantastic. But saban only won 1 national title while at LSU, same as Miles. Nobody can honestly say that he would have won 4 more championships if he had stayed. It's possible, but we'll never know.
Bottom line, saban wasn't happy at LSU and ran off to the NFL. He failed there and unfortunately ended up at alabama.

I've said this from day one. LSU should have NEVER let him get on the plane to Miami. Double his salary and tell him again WHATEVER you want YOU get.
How many times must Sabanistas be told this:
MONEY WASN'T THE MAIN THING. It was the type of control that an NFL team could give him that LSU never could.

LSU had a coach in place at the time. Miles had gone 11-2 in back to back seasons and had finished #5 and #3 respectively, so it's not like he was about to
Be fired.
Be fired.

What makes you think that Saban wasn't happy at LSU. He has always spoken fondly of his time at LSU

I honestly don't know for a fact if he was or not. I would think that if he was happy and content, he would have stayed.
I personally have turned down job offers from places offering me more money because I was happy where I was at the time. That's just how I feel about the situation though.
Money and power meant more to saban then happiness I suppose. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

The bigger "What If" story seems to be; What if Miles had left for Michigan after 2007 (Saban lost to ULM that 1st year at Bama) would LSU try and lure Saban back and on to greatness?
Under that scenario its more likely LSU would bring in Saban (rather than firing a successful new coach), and Saban has benefits of NFL experience and 2007 season at Bama.

Sure he was. He was happy as hell.. Its just that he always had a dream of being an NFL head coach.. It didn't work out there because of his controlling nature.. The guys in the NFL laughed in his face... He came back to college where he has COMPLETE control... There is no way of telling how many [if any] Nc's LSU could have won had he stayed... But I would take him back in a heartbeat... Nothing against Miles except the FACT that he has had NC type talent on a number of occasions and failed.... next year LSU should be in the top 5 all year with no excuses...

But, but, where would Choctaw, Beefence, and Grey Tiger be had we kept Saban and never have gotten Les Miles. They wouldn't have anyone to overinflated the coaching of.....

That rarity demonstrates that it's taboo, which is why I actively dislike Saban and will not praise him despite his accomplishments
That's why I despise Alabama. I don't blame Saban for getting what he wanted. Another reason I hate pulling coaches from rival teams.

If Shaq would have stayed, if Dale didn't quit, we would have a bball ship. Rabble Rabble Rabble

He may have been. Happiness sure didn't stop the jackass from bailing out on the team, school and fans.

Spinoff topic: how many head coaches have voluntarily departed a team (meaning: HC's who weren't fired) and gone to a conference/divisional rival?
Saban and Chavis can both eat a bag of dicks

I guess you missed my point... The guy had a dream and wanted a chance to coach in the NFL.. He got his wish and failed...

LSU paid Saban about 3 times after NFL flirtations. He's be making $45 Mil a year if he were still at LSU
