He's averaging 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 22 minutes per game for Valpo this season. He played 26 minutes against Florida State last Thursday and scored 18 points helping Valpo advance to the NIT quarterfinals. Too bad they yanked his scholarship, a few more effort guys/upperclassman could have gone a long way for LSU this year.

World's worst backcourt pass with the game in the balance belongs to Shammink against Bama.

But we preserved the alumni game by hiring this level of coaching, so you have to factor that in.

He's done OK but is nothing special at Valpo. He would have rode the bench this year here.

These stats aren't good against good competition. They are even worse against the Horizon league teams.

There was also the issue of his lack of lateral quickness on defense.

Not trying to knock him, because I really liked him here, but lets not act like it's some huge loss.

52% Fg, 80% from the line

decent enough to be a program building type here at LSU

Shane Hammink 100% could have been used this season. Was he great? No. But Hornsby got injured, and we were throwing out Freshman Brandon Sampson who gave us less than nothing. Hammink would have at least been another experienced senior.

What isn't mentioned is that Valpo plays 9, sometimes 10 players all solid minutes. They play as a team and only have 2 players score double figures. Hammink is actually 4th on the team in points and 1st in FG%. Also, he is 59/73 from the FT line for 81%.

This board is ridiculous because he was not good at the beginning of his career, and people act like that means his entire career would be bad. Next year he will be one of the leading scorers for another solid Valpo team. I don't think it is a coincidence he went from a shite coach to a good coach and his production went up 10 fold.

In the NCAA tournament or on a one game basis mid-season, sure. Over the course of an entire schedule, no the Horizon is not as good as a Power 5 conference top to bottom.

Hammink would have gotten MAYBE 10-12 minutes a game this year, and that's on the high end. He wasn't taking any minutes away from Hornsby or Blakeney who both played almost entire games. The only minutes he would have gotten are Sampson's and I'd rather Sampson have those since his ceiling is obviously much higher.

Well they were bound to since his minutes increased.

Look I loved Hammink when he was here. But to act like he was the difference in winning or losing a game anywhere on the schedule just isn't reality.

If he plays at Valpo next year. They will probably get hit with the death penalty considering he is a senior this year.

So their team would be a little less than solid, sir.

Did you watch Gray this year? He did that in multiple games throughout his career.
