Tops can be deferred for a semester. You can also lose it and gain it back. You also don’t get it if you’re not full time in most circumstances.

You can’t just pause tops, or decide when you want to use it, or be a part time student & still keep it

Above what? Risk losing an elite prospect by cutting his money only to add a kid from JUCO that might work out? Go look around the other elite programs in this league and tell me about all the scholarship players they added this year. The number should be large right?

I know you can defer TOPs because I did. I didn’t get a first semester of college because of a little thing called Katrina. Lester is all wrong here.

All I said was that tops doesn’t have to be used for 4 consecutive years. There could still be 5th year seniors using it for various reasons. If they lost it because of grades then regained it or lost the 24 hours due to withdrawals. Or even covid. We don’t know the circumstances but it’s possible. That’s all I said.
The point is most of these seniors are not getting a cut of that 11.7. No major program does that. It’s not in the interest of the program.
