I see what you’re saying. Football for example — it’s not prohibited before 2/1 but it’s prohibited now.

To clarify your response: If an SEC football player has entered the transfer portal by 2/1 they are allowed to transfer to another SEC team, they do not have to make the decision on their new SEC team by that date, just be in the portal by that date. Portal entries after that date by SEC players would preclude inter-conference transfer. However, transfer rules for graduate transfers for in-conference transferring may be different than the SEC rules for undergrad transfers.

Years ago there used to be a rule (I believe it was strictly by the SEC) where you had to sit a year if it was conference to conference. Eventually that went away and you were immediately eligible to play even if it was conference to conference. Only thing you need to do is transfer within the period that the Portal allows. Depends on the sport, but it's generally during the time after conference championship events have passed.

As little as I follow this:

isn't she a volume shooter? The more she is the primary option, the better she is?

Isn't Caitlyn Clark finished at Iowa? Do they have anyone better than Van Lith waiting to fill that spot?
If not, I would expect her to at least look there, as she could step into the same role she wants.

I'm not saying she's on Clark's level, but they seem to have set up a system to highlight the same position, and they made the Finals 2 years in a row. You plug Van Lith in, they probably still make the tourney again, and you never know if you can get another run.
