on 97.3 The Zone in B'Ham that had the fake punt occurred in a "17-14 game in the 4th quarter", if it was Alabama it would not have been flagged, but would have been given a good talking to by the officials

you may think its a good call, but...
Doesn't make sense if it is a good call.

Not 1 bit of embellishment. I stand by what I posted. I worked at BellSouth/AT&T with Steve for many years & I know him personally. I always respected him & his crew over the years. I have no reason to throw him under the bus. He definitely said it as I posted. Believe what you want. I'm not sure if 97.3 has an archive as they are a fairly new show in town.
I have got to say that through the years I have always thought that Steve's crews call a good game. I'm not saying that he never made a mistake but I never felt like he was out to screw us. Same goes for Penn Wagers as well. Now as for Matt Austin well I'll let you decide after last weeks game.

You have to wonder how long he has been waiting to make that call to "send a message".

Really? the game was only 14-0 at the time. It was the 2nd quarter. Florida had plenty of time to come back. That official would have called that no matter what. You can be sure that it will never be called on bama no matter what the score is.

Steve Shaw was the best on-field official in the SEC regardless of whether he is a Bama grad.
I would take him over any other in the SEC.
I concur.

Shaw was legit unlike his peers.

I always thought Shaw was the best too.
Ritter and Austin crews have screwed us over the years.
I know Ritter worked Bama '09 at Tuscaloosa.
Who worked AU in '06? Was that Austin? I can't recall.

click that if you want to see the flag thrown, the PI called, the PI accepted by LSU, the 1st down signaled, THEN the flag gets waived off. SEC

Hmmmm...I'll cross my fingers then and pray we dont get that Bug-Eyed Goon at Bama.
Any organization that operates off a good ole boy network is trouble.

I said this in a thread on Saturday:

My opinion: The ref saw that this was an opportunity to make the call without effecting a sure blow-out.

I started to watch this, then hit the "red X" because even now, I find the officiating of this game so very disturbing...

Proving once again what is wrong with officiating in the SEC. Its either a penalty or its not. The score has nothing to do with whether or not it should be called.
Sounds like outcome based officiating.

This is the real deal. Remember, Les' first year when we were both ranked in the top 5 I believe, Bama and us. Bama got ablsolutely every call. If it was called our way and questionable, then the review reversed in favor of Bama. I dont think we had a single major call in that game go our way and obviously that was when Shula was coaching Bama.

Did some digging and learned Penn Wagers is from Summerville, SC...which means he's probably farther away from B'Ham than any other Referee.
Not sure about who is in his crew, but I would be OK with Penn in Tuscaloosa.

Rule sucks but hopefully this will keep team from repeating "taunting?" or even excessive celebration for the rest of the season!

Mark Curles Crew was suspended for '09 LSU vs Ga (AJ Green & C Scott flags) and UF vs Arkansas bad calls.
Posted on 10/10/11 at 8:28 pm to TigerCorp
Every time Penn Wagers does an LSU game we end up with tons of penalties.
