Thanks for the reply. I'm feeling good about Etling being good enough and experienced enough to be the qb we need to contend. From what u have seen do u feel that way?

I have been guilty of criticizing DE. After watching him this spring (as well as his performance this season), he is more than capable of being that guy. I would like to see built in packages foe our dual threats guys. DE is a bona fide leader. Dude is a real fighter, with TALENT.

We're going to have a great 1-2 punch with Guice and Williams.

No special teams work this spring other than field goal.

Thanks for the great posts. I really want to get excited about the offense but I am skeptical about one thing.
How much of the success the offense is having do to the offense playing outstanding with great play calls and how much is the defense loosing a ton of players from spring practices (injury, short hours limited contact, etc..).
I am hoping it is offensive talent finally getting utilized and if that's the case the SEC better watch out.

Savion Smith? Kristian Fulton? I realize that Donte and KT are starters on the Islands outside, and Xavier Lewis has taken over the Slot Corner/Nickelback...but these two guys were bpth five star recruits in 2016. Really hoping Smith and Fulton are gonna see significant time in the Defensive Backfield... anyone know how those two are looking?

I think its a little of both. We knew that there was going to be a bit of a curve defensively. I have faith that Aranda is going to have his guys ready. Also, this offense has the potential of giving opponents fits.

No doubt. But KT and Donte are were 5 stars and high 4 stars respectively. SS and KF had looked good. But this is DBU. There turn will come. This what happens when you have great depth.

-opening TD was Chark not Davis. Was scheme TD more than anything (as in not a bad play by player on D)

You are correct. Thanks.

quote:

-It was 1v1 all day, only mixed tiers one drive unlike all scrimmage under miles. In regards to "stats," Etling went against 1s on D all game. Etling is your QB, and had at least 4 throw aways due to perfect play recognition by the first team D.

I agree.

quote:

-Mcmillan > Scott at this stage as far as decision making. Scott is our runner at the position though

Yeh. I watched the last two scrimmages and a few practices. The offense has run clean with the both of them. This weekend, I certainly did not see a edge one way the other in that regard. Both looked decisive, and took good care of the football. In the first scrimmage, Scott's TD pass to Drake, after just a few reps left a strong impression in my mind. Overall, I like both of these guys.

quote:

-Davis had 1 catch (was with 1s). 35 yard go where he beat toliver at the line

Agreed.

quote:

-chark is special. Will have a year worthy of his new number

Hell yes!

quote:

Chark and Davis are your 1 and 2. Gage had some special plays. Anderson had a great play, and some mistakes. Don't think Dillon got a ball live, but looked fast in drills. Dillon can move. WR were getting sweeps from any and everywhere.

I loved watching he multi-use of these guys.

quote:

-Donte Jackson looked great. Toliver made some nice plays outside of Davis go route

Agreed. DBs could do a better job as whole, in not getting lulled to sleep.

Thanks for your notes. Good Read

lol Kwon entered the draft after 3 seasons and started as a TrFR until a broken ankle at UF

Debo made enough plays in his first 3 years that no one was really concerned with him starting.

I'm not sure what comparison you're trying to make but it's definitely not a good example

I think he meant DEBO and Duke Riley not Kwon Alexander. Neither DEBO or Duke started before their senior seasons and both looked really good in their one year of play. Wish we had another year with Duke Riley. I think Paris will be fine but we also have Delpit, Stevens, and Todd Harris. Glad Delpit and Stevens were early enrollees.

You have a bigger sample size to compare, I didn't make the first scrimmage.
My reasoning after watching this scrimmage was the deep ball Scott shouldn't have thrown down the left sideline, went right through smiths hands. Scott looked good and is young, but that should have been a pick. On the flip side Mcmillan didn't have any "bad" decisions that day at least, had one completion that really impressed also: nickel jumped a slot curl and Mcmillan hesitated then threw it inside completing the pass.

It's just one scrimmage and doesn't mean it's not the other way around in others. With those limited reps I just came away more impressed with Mcmillan as far as decision making. Excited about Scott though

I would imagine if smith develops on the outside that Donte might slide into the nickel role, similar to white last year.

Maybe Lewis is more of that Dwayne Thomas downhill nickel that worked well for aranda last year though.

Nothing of note from the scrimmage on smith and Fulton. Both gave up some underneath completions to the #2 offense. Smith did drop an easy pick but was in perfect position so can't really say it was a bad play. Fulton was rotating with greedy at #2 left corner. Greedy started.

How are the kickers looking? We have to break in a new one.

They look pretty good. They are not apart of the scrimmages though, but are working well during the week.
