CWW reportedly may have written a check or two out of an account he was associated with. I am not claiming he did or did not. But we all know things are done around other programs.

I think its ashame that his or LSU boosters or the powers that be were not stepping up and he felt the need to do something like that.

Did the basketball program have any support during his first tenure. I am not sure it did if he felt the need to do that.

GCWW is my coach and I am glad he came back.

I am like the wife in Goodfellas - I am happy we had the kind of coach that cared enough to cheat

Will Wade was enterprising / hustling and some of you mfers wanted him fired

quote:

Karen: [Narrating] After awhile, it got to be all normal. None of it seemed like crime. It was more like Henry was enterprising, and that he and the guys were making a few bucks hustling, while all the other guys were sitting on their asses, waiting for handouts. Our husbands weren't brain surgeons, they were blue-collar guys. The only way they could make extra money, real extra money, was to go out and cut a few corners.

Do you realize that was written to a person not associated with LSU and for a person not associated with LSU?

Lol, I don't know why but that's one of the quotes I recall most often in what is a very quotable movie.

Maybe because my kids pull the babe in the woods routine often.

Most blueblood basketball programs have financial support systems in place for any new coach. LSU did not. So Wade had to start it himself. Thus no middlemen. Kansas, Duke,UNC and schools like them were cheating just like Wade but they didn't get caught and if they did their AD and Presidents stood behind them ala. That NIL support system is now in place at LSU and he can now go toe to toe with the big boys and they hate that.

No I did not. So are you telling me it would have been okay if he would have written it to the player.

You still are not getting it. That incident happened before he was even coaching at LSU the first time. He wrote a check from a personal account (his wife's checking account I think) and gave it to a player's family member (mom I think)

No he is saying the situation, due to the NCAA not being able to get him ont he wiretap stuff at all. Woodward then having an out to fire him for cause. The thing he gets “busted” for is not even in the Top 500 of stuff he actually did (That everyone else does) of what the NCAA or anyone else would think is in any “wrong”, “unethical”, “cheating”, or subversive. He put himself in the situation and it was a mater of time, but honestly some could say it really shined a light on given the state now just how backwards and messed up the old system was.

Correct whether the player in question was going to come or did come to LSU, Will was going to do it anyways. Ricky tack stuff like that still happens on a weekly basis all over college sports and is still against the NCAA rules today. But not only can they not enforce it, even if they proved it today, nobody cares or is looking least of all the NCAA.

Does that change your opinion as to whether LSU boosters should have funded this?

How would you come to that conclusion? That makes no sense, particularly in the context of you questioning whether LSU boosters should have been involved in providing that money.
