Savannah Jaquish - increidibly unselfish

There was a special moment in Friday night's LSU/ Georgia softball game. With the soce toed in the bottom of the seventh the first tow LSU batters got on base, with the winning run at second. The next batter was Savannah Jaquish, the LSU all time RBI leader, an All American and senior leader. Coach Beth Torina called time to discuss strategy but before she could say anything Jaquish told her she wanted to bunt the runners over and get the winning run to third base with one out. Some stars players would sulk at not being able to be the heroine if the coach ordered a bunt.
Jaquish did the right thing while assuring Torina it was about the team and not about herself. She successfully bunted the runners over and Constance Quinn drove in the winning run from third. It may have been a little thing to some but that move spoke volumes to the young players on the team. One team, one heart pesonified by a great senior leader.

The reason women's sports suck is because people act like extremely normal situations took some act of God to produce.

Think O had made it clear that "One team, One heartbeat" is a motto for the University, not just the football team

Way to miss the point. In today's self centered world here is a young athlete who voluntarily did the right thing for the game situation and presented a great example for her younger teammates. It may seem like a normal situation, and maybe it was in another generation but not as much today.

This could be a miniseries on Oxygen.

So you created a thread bc an athlete did what she was supposed to do? Spotlighting an athlete being unselfish is contradictory to that selfless act. If you think there shouldn't be an "i" in team, you shouldn't then make a big deal about one of those i's.

So I guess we have never glorified male athletes here on the Rant for doing exactly what they are supposed to do? Ok then.

Why dont you read the rest of my posts on this and put it in context. There are a lot of star athletes in college and professionally who would sulk because they were asked to bunt or do something similar to put their team in better position to win if it meant giving up theopportunity to get the game winning hit or shot. The fact she initiated the strategy before the coach even asked her to is a great message to her younger teammates. When they see an All American make that move it does resonate .
Mock the point if you want but sometimes these moments create intangibles within a team that help to win championships.

No shite.
If the coach calls bunt, you fricking bunt. It doesn't matter how many fricking career RBI you have. Do your job. Jesus Christ.

The coach didn't call bunt, dipshit. She was going to let Jaquish hit away and Jaquish convinced the coach to let her bunt.

I mean, if the coach tells her to bunt, she needs to fricking bunt.
This isn't that complicated, and in no way does this deserve a thread.
I would have sex with her though.
