He’s been one of the best SS in the country defensively. Very underrated

Defense and pitching won this one!

Yes two beautiful double plays, solid pitching makes up for unproductive at bats.

Reeves easily makes both of those double plays and doesn’t strike out 3 times.
Please tell me you were kidding about Braswell and competitive at bats!!!

No it’s just Braswell is an automatic out. Hell try John Pearson. Give him a shot at starting at third.

Bras caught shite last year because of errors and then led the team in hits. This year the defense is rock solid and he isn’t hitting.

Reaves might be and probably is the worst fielder on the entire team. He has been awful. As I said he has the 2nd most errors on the team and has barely played defense. Braswell is literally a shortstop playing 3rd base.

Well he should never be allowed to swing. At least try for the walk. I’ll give him this, he’s a good bunter

Braswell isn’t a very good hitter. He has been bad this year. All I’m saying is defensively Braswell has separated himself. Reaves has had some opportunities and hasn’t hit all that good and has shite the bed on defense. Options aren’t great at 3rd base at least offensively.

Haha, I don’t understand it either. He was decent last year. He hit ok. I’d be happy with .280 the way he fields. He hit .311 last year. Where is that guy?

Actually it's a 5,4,3 double play.

Yeah, that’s why you start him over Reaves. Neither is good at the plate, but Braswell is a fantastic defender

Reaves has looked decent at the plate and just had some loud outs but his approach and confidence are a world away from where Bras is right now.

That said, Braswell absolutely was the right call for this one, being set up for a tight pitcher’s duel. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Reaves called on in a game early with Braswell in late with a lead for defense. I think that would just depend on matchups down the line.

He started one game and played half or more of two of the other of the last three vs LR and WVU.

That was obviously a matchup call vs a baaaaaad defensive team in WVU, but he didn’t have any errors or mistakes when thrown into the fire.

It will all come down to matchups or if we are behind in a game. Braswell is an auto out right now and we all know it. If he can sac bunt, or get lucky and get hit by a pitch like tonight, great. But if not, he’s a black hole. If he comes up with 2 outs and RISP like he has a few times in the last month (pretty sure the last was vs LR in the loss), he’s been punched out and ended the inning.

I’ll agree with you all that Reaves isn’t some great hitter, but Braswell is toast at this point. He’s checked out at the plate. It is what it is and Jay is back to platooning them lately for a reason.

We needed Braswell’s defense tonight. Jay may value Reaves at another point when we can’t afford an auto-out in the lineup and can sneak a guy like Larson in for a key AB.
