I love how it's safe for the officer to speed with his lights off and pass those vehicles. It's cool bro, you're trained and totally know how to evade other drivers.
His moms reaction over the phone is the same my mom would have

I just watched the news piece. I love the fact that his wife has a letter from the troop commander saying 'very good month' Like it is a sales job!

cop really had a problem with his tail lights. it's like he was looking for extra citations to write. he also was convinced he had a radar scrambler. other cop who showed up seemed like a much nicer guy. arresting officer was just a typical douchebag redneck on a power trip because he has a gun and a badge.

Boom......South Carolina cops hate LSU.

His wife says he doesn't know what he did wrong in that stop. LOL

I'll play devil's advocate here: If he decided to arrest him, I imagine that the rest of the procedure (cuffing with person's feet spread, etc.) is procedure.
The actual conversation once he was cuffed was polite in both directions.
Sam handled it really well. But if I was a trouper stopping someone on a lonely road at night, I would have been cautious with approaching him/her regardless of their race, gender, etc. Those guys are on an island in those moments and people doing 34 over the limit are more likely to be under the influence and therefore unpredictable.
I wonder, if Sam had NOT been an NFL player, would this be news, and would the trouper have been suspended for doing his job? Not a slam at Sam who was amazingly calm and polite--but I don't think the trouper seems like that bad of an actor.

threatening to taser someone who is trying to cooperate is not procedure. nothing about sam's behavior during his arrest was anything but polite and cooperative. you don't threaten to use force against someone that is not resisting, threatening, or using force themselves. that's where the trooper crossed the line. sam did everything he was asked to do from the minute the trooper told him to shut off his engine and put his hands out of the window. even that was over the line. driving 30 mph over the speed limit does not, by itself, give the officer reasonable suspicion to think he is dangerous and deserving of the treatment he received. then, he went out of his way to try to find a non-existent radar detector as well as going out of his way to say sam's taillights weren't legal. the other officer that came to the scene late in the video seemed to have no idea what the arresting officer was talking about either.
all in all, i think sam was nicer and more respectful throughout the entire arrest than about anyone i've seen. i mean he went out of his way to be friendly like he wasn't even being arrested.

You can't expect anything less from a cop these days.
Anything more, not anything less.
And some of you are obviously immature. Sam should have been arrested, not just ticketed. That's too gross of a speeding violation. Sam also should have been treated with respect, and the cop should be severely dealt with over this. I'm not saying he should be fired; that depends on his past record. But he should definitely be disciplined. Bottom line is that both characters behaved poorly. Sam redeemed himself some by being respectful to the cop.

but cuffs and making him step out wasn't THAT absurd. The internal review won't lead to anything and I bet the cop gets his compensation back that he is missing.
Trooper who arrested NFL's Montgomery fired.

Seems like he had a reputation for not being lenient after an incident with the Governor? Probably pissed off a lot of important local people & had history of complaints perhaps ?
Reminds me of the firing of the cop who pulled the gun on Ryan Moats & wife for running a red light to visit dying mother in hospital .
Both department's took surprisingly strong actions.

Cop got what he deserved.
I read the article. I found it funny that he didn't show up in court for Sam's speeding violation.
