i could beat the shite out of miles for underutilizing one of the greatest recruits we have ever had....i love that kid...phucking class act kid, team player, all he wanted was an important role and that dipshit head coach never gave him one...I cant stand the fact the JJ stole all those plays from guys like this that could have actually been extremely productive....miles will never learn....dipshit...

What on God's Green Earth have you seen out of him at the College Level would lead you to believe he could be that explosive of a player at the highest level of Football?
I'm not saying that his college production matches Jackson's but he is similar in size and speed. Shep caught 52 passes for 478 yds and 5 TDs for us and started for one season. He also rushed 34 times for 572 yds and 5 TDs. Ten TDs in 86 touches is pretty damn good, especially when you consider that we were terrible at disguising what plays we would run when he entered the game. Percy Harvin scored 32 combined TDs, but he touched the ball 327 times in his career at Florida (133 catches and 194 carries).
He is obviously still learning the position, but it's not like he's a scrub. He may have been the most under-utilized talent in America. Just my opinion, I'm no draft expert!

If he is leaving, losing Shep would be big. Production wouldn't be lost much on the field if he leaves but he is an extremely hard worker, a leader, and really an ambassador to the university. He makes a difference on the sidelines and interpersonally. His talent wasn't utilized well on the field but within the football program and the university as a whole he is important in my opinion.

one play ??? do you watch college football or just post about it ?? He couldn't turn the fricking corner in the SEC ... he was not that great .. get over it ... he broke no tackles .. never got tough yards and needed lots of space to do anything .. He got PLENTY of touches/chances his first two years and didn't produce like the five-star player he was purported to be .. that's life ... Stop blaming RS on Miles .. he's one of the few things that wasn't his fault .. He gave him chances ..

if he's a "leader" why is he quitting and bailing ?

I am told that #LSU WR Russell Shepard hasn't made his decision yet. Still debating NFL or returning to school.

I am absolutely serious..... If he was any good at returns he would have already been doing it... Do you think our coaches don't try kids.... He obviously doesn't have that skill.
He has been a deep guy on KO returns but never did anything and is not a good blocked.
As for running the ball.... When wide open good... But in any sort of traffic he's toast.
Declaring for the draft is a bad move... RS's future is not in football... He better get his degree.
100% serious. I don't care about his Pee wee career or HS Rivals highlight tape... He's not gonna play "at the next level". End story.

just don't get this great leader label when he's tweeting negative shite after games and now basically quitting ..

This makes no sense for Shepherd, unless he's just totally frustrated from the big disaster. It's in Shep's best interest to stay and perform on a team with a real quarterback. He'll be worth more later...

he is the most underutilzed player in college football history....the guy is a stud, i dont care what anyone says...i think if he stays and mett is the QB, i think he could be a 1st of 2nd round guy...RR would def be a first round guy...

Like I said, I call bullshite. He's not leaving. If he does, I wish him well in free agency. He will be our #2 guy next year behind OBJ with Mett tossing BBs at him. Queue the ," I overracted, I'm sorry" tweet for the morning.

Why would someone leave to be a 4th round draft pick?
Unhappy? Pissed off? Underutilized?

because in 2010, he was getting run down from behind before he turned the corner on said sweeps .. he got his chances in 2009 and 2010 .. he wasn't that great ..
not sure what you are talking about, he was our most explosive player in 09' and 10'
he's been run down on an angle a few times, after get 15+ yards. Dont see the big deal in that.
he averaged 6.6 YPC on his career. Run down or not or whatever is in your head, that is still really good.

Late round pick based on production at LSU. If he's is a great shorts an t-shirt player all he needs is a great combine/work out. He had unbelievable measureables out of high school and I don't see where those would have determined. If al Davis was still living, shep might go #1 overall....

It makes absolutely 0 sense for him to STAY.
FIFY His coach just played him 3 fricking plays in teh national title game. THREE plays!
If pressure at qb was the problem to not put Lee in, the Shep was a better answer thatn JJ at that point.

he isn't that great, Les .. sorry ..

1) i never said he was 'great'. I said he was explosive running the ball. He just was never used right.
He was never as physical as Percy Harvin, but should have been used similar. Harvin had nearly 200 carries at the end of his 3 years because they had a running QB and ran a great spread option/wildcat attack that featured their best players.
Shep doesn't even have 90 carries on his career at this point.
We had a running QB the last 4 years, who had 50 starts or so, and all they want to do is run the traditional option with him or throw bubble screens when it has been proven in CFB that the attack I referred to above was gashing defenses with the same personnel.
and the fact that he played 3 snaps in the national title game is a sham.
