I have a B.S In Psyc from LSU and it's pretty easy to not take notes in most of those Psyc classes and still get an A or B.

I agree with nas. I summer class wit russel after the spring he EE. Nice guy, would see him out and around campus. Always down for chatting. Now 2 years later the guy seems so full of himself when i see him around and just a change in attitude.
this may be the case but i still dont see anything wrong with him wanting to be the best. if he had said he was the best but was restricted by coaching that would be one thing but setting goals isnt talking shite imo

Sounds like he has a know what I'm saying bet going with a teammate. As in I bet you won't say you know what I'm saying 30 times in this interview.

i like russell shepard .. i think he hasn't lived up to all of his recruiting hype and was probably a bit over-evaluated coming out of high school .. but i think in the right situation he can certainly help this team and i think krag's system will do just that ..

I will give him the benefit of the doubt for the first two years. I was like most critical of the staff for not finding how to best use him best.

But more and more I'm starting to wonder if he was just over-rated. This year is show me time for RS IMHO.

i really think it is this .. when he was run down from behind seven yards ahead of a guy in the alabama game that RR outran to the end zone despite the guy having an angle on him moments earlier .. it was the cherry on the sundae for me .. i am now convinced the guy is overrated .. but there have been many players that didn't live to their recruiting hype here that still found ways to contribute in spots .. i think RS can do that this season ... but for the people expecting this "break out" season, you are setting yourself up for disappointment .. this guy will be a role player at best the rest of the way ..

This kid has done nothing but good for LSU. If the kid ever lives up to his football hype I can see him running for governor one day!

It sure is beginning to look that way TR. I think he's a good kid and leader who represents LSU well. But after two years I think it's fair to speculate that he's just may well not be the player most thought he would be.

I think we should temper our expectations for him in accordance.

To be honest, this applied to me too and I didn't even play sports at LSU

thats just code for arrogant and talks-too-much and overrated.

RS should have grown a few more inches and played basketball he would have fit right in

His first year he played QB, WR, and RB.

Last year was his first year playing WR. It's a huge transition to WR, esp in college with learning how to distinguish between coverages and adjusting routes accordingly. This is his second year actually playing WR. He will improve.

Of course, he will never live up to the hype that Tiger fans have placed on him.

What exactly has he done to warrant this?

He's still a kid. I guess I will never understand why people have to bash kids who have done nothing but work hard and represent the school well.

I think many of these posters are just upset that they now look ridiculous crowning a guy who's most consistent act was running around a weak district in the mythological land of Texas. (Not that there isn't outstanding football in that state, it's just that simple logic dictates that it is not everywhere and some districts are more consistent than others).

In this youtube, ESPN (you ever notice how often those guys either label something or have discussions about something being the greatest ever?) culture this isn't surprising.

It takes two years of consistent play to become a legend in college football. If Russel plays well the next two years then his first two years will be viewed very differently.

Also, I agree with earlier posters. I want my guy saying and working towards being the best at his position.
