He's a bust. For all the hype he had...he's a bust.

Honestly, Harvin is a lot quicker. He gets to his top speed faster.

I don't think he would be doing much better at a school like Oregon unless he was playing QB, which I'm not sure would have happened. His speed is the same at LSU is it would be at Oregon. Also, his hands are the same at LSU as they would be at Oregon
Yes but the defenses he would be facing in conference would be MUCH slower............

He still has a year. It's not easy to change positions.

guys do it all the time, esp coming from high school where QBs are glorified running backs

Not that light they don't. Shepard weighs nothing.

Yeah, Shep sure had experience at WR in HS.

Yeah play qb your whole life and then switch at 18, when you weigh maybe 185. Yeah that's normal.

tons of QBs go on to be RBs, CBs, WRs, Ss, etc
being a QB in high school, esp in option offenses (which shep was in) is almosta pointless designation

it is normal
reuben randle, mo claiborne, spencer ware, etc

They are big guys Slow. You know this. Shep is no where near their size.

how much difference in mass do you think mo claiborne had from shep when both were in their first year at LSU? it wasn't much
Posted on 11/13/11 at 1:50 am to SlowFlowPro
Are we talking about now or then? I'm pretty sure we are talking now. Claiborne is bigger than him now. And honestly shep has had some big plays too his career.

I'm almost positive shep was ten lbs lighter. U could be wrong.

It isn't even that RS would have been a QB at another school; he would have been used in a dramatically different way.
Oregon would use RS on jet sweeps 3-4 times a game, tunnel screens at least once a game, underneath crossing routes/rub routes across the field a few times a game, and maybe a swing pass here and there. In addition, he would run the wildcat, zone reads, and potentially option plays. These things all play into his strength.
He would also return kicks.
Comparing RS at Oregon v. LSU is apples to oranges, unfortunately.
RS cannot be lined up in a pro style and just be expected to beat the CB. He doesn't have the technique of the natural skills yet to do that. He needs plays that are simple to run and utilize his speed and cutting ability in space.
For example, he runs a jet sweep tonight for 17 yards and we don't give him the ball on the same play again. Why not?! Just hand him the ball already at 75% full acceleration and challenge the defense horizontally to defend it.
This is where I think Miles does a poor job of managing personnel because he is so uber-conservative offensively.
