What does AP stand for?

I've only been to Thailand on 2 separate occasions. The longest I stayed was about 2 weeks. Everything is dirt cheap, I like Thai food a lot, and the people are friendly.

I visited Phuket, Bangkok, and Pattaya in Thailand. In Asia, I've been to Singapore, Malaysia, India, Hong Kong, mainland China, Taiwan, and I now live in Japan.

How did you get to live in paradise for 6 months? I would like to land a job in Singapore so I could hit up all of the cheap vacation destinations on the weekends and still get paid a Western salary.

edit: I've also been to Philippines. Funny I forgot about that because my gf is from there.

Worked for a high end hotel company called Anantara. Sales. Basically just did it to live in Thailand. Quit the job after about 4 months and then just traveled for the next 2 months.

I was in the military and Japan was my last duty station. My gf talked me into staying in Japan to do college. IMO, Hong Kong has the best food in the world. You should definitely go there and try out the dim sum restaurants.

You don't necessarily have to run traditional offenses with explosive players like RS.

He wasn't explosive! He was fast, but not Trindon fast. And that's it; that's all there was. Outside of a handful of long runs in which he went untouched - and in which ANY fast guy would have gone untouched - I never saw RS make a play. Remember that time he juked the DB and we all were like "Did you see that!"? Nope, that didn't happen. Remember the catch that ESPN played over and over like Landry's? Nope, that didn't happen either.

Sure the guy would have done better somewhere else - somewhere with no Ware, Hilliard, Blue, Hill, or Ford. Like the poster said earlier, he was beat out by freshmen most years. Our offensive creativity might be an issue, but if there's more production to be had that way - and I leave that to the coaches - the beneficiaries would be the guys ahead of RS on the depth chart.

League Champ, Do me the honor, please, of not assigning motives to me. This is a forum to express opinions. Mine are different than yours. We should respectfully argue and perhaps disagree. If you get to assign motives to those with whom you disagree, surely you'll never lose an argument, and your opponents will always be demonized. It's an effective technique, but if you really want to capitalize on it, don't invade Russia!

it really is amazing how people continue to come out and defend Miles' coaching. No wonder the idiot makes so much money to come in second place. LSU - where offensive talent comes to die.

Not that amazing, really. By your way of thinking only one coach can be defended.

You say some of the most ignorant statements , ever made on TD. FACT!!!!!4 of the top 5 LSU offenses , EVER , ARE LES MILES COACHED TEAMS. FACT.

Since 2008, combining all the years and all the teams in DIV 1, LSU has 74th ranked offense in the country and the 9th ranked offense in the SEC (out of 12 teams). FACT!

you cannot keep throwing away his 7 ypc and act like Shep never made things happen. Wouldn't you like to know with 200 touches what his average would be?

This is long, but there's no other way to explain why RS had a 7 ypc average but did not receive more carries.

There are different kinds of offenses, but all share one thing: they have a bread-and-butter way to consistently move the ball. In a West coast O it's the short passing game; in the Read Option it's, well, the read option. In our offense it's the between the tackles running game. A lot of you don't like that. I do, because it seems to be the most successful one now - not in yardage or scoring but in Ws.

All of these offenses use their bread-and-butter to set up the big play. When the D begins to overcommit to stop the West Coast's short pass, the read-option, or the power running, they fake those things and beat them deep, or with a reverse, or with a jet sweep, or any number of things.

There are several ways teams try to stop LSU which leave them vulnerable. Mostly what our D coaches do during a game is watch how the D is cheating and call an appropriate play to hit them where they ain't. When a D cheats their safeties up we throw the bomb or the out if the CB plays conservative. When their LBs run blitz we throw to TEs and RBs. When they over-pursue from the corners they are set up for the jet sweep or a reverse.

Most of RS' long runs came on jet sweeps against bad teams which were over pursuing. Our coaches saw it, called the right play, and bingo, RS is running 60 yards untouched but all RS did was not fumble and not fall down. The credit goes to the between the tackles running that caused the over pursuit. RS could not get those carries. They had to come from a big rugged back who wouldn't go down easily. Now, here's the thing...you can't "give RS more of these carries. Only the defense can give those carries because if we run the jet sweep when the D is playing honest, it's probably going to lose yardage.

...and this is the problem with RS, he was the #1 recruit...according to Rivals, I guess. If they had ranked him #627, where he should have been ranked, we wouldn't be having this discussion. But there's a solution! To those who wanted to see more of RS' talent, you can view it forever to your heart's content, below...

First of all, I agree that he should have gotten more carries when you average about 7 yards a carry, but there is only ONE football to go around. I'm sure Coach Miles has a very good reason why Shep didn't get many touches. Maybe one day we will read about it in a book... lol. He has hands of stone and that will probably never change.

He did this with the Jlee/ JJ saga. I wanted lee to be the starter, but because I said JLee was also inconsistent , I WAS PRO JJ. He is an idiot.

I wish y'all would go back to calling each other motherfriggers. I was enjoying this thread.

No, seriously, some quality posts there at the end. I can't disagree with Shrubber that we need better offensive coaching, and I bet Miles agrees with it, too. Sometimes there are constraints that we don't know about, like contracts, buyouts, etc., that maybe tie Miles' hands. I think the Kragthorpe illness was one of these.
