Firing mid season with a season ending dismissal, literally days before Early Signing, is a disaster.
It will be a colossal disaster for the new coaching staff to deal with.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Woodward did what was best for LSU the university....not one man and not one player.
Any of the players that actually leave are playing for the name on the back of their jersey and not the front of it. If you wonder how Bama keeps all the players around for as long as possible that's it...they play for the name on front of the jersey.

Exactly. Letting the malcontents go elsewhere is important. Don't need them here to undermine the new coach/ staff.
Also, transfers work both ways. The new coach knows he'd have to hit the portal hard anyway; make the rules work for you.

Woody had to announce that Ed's bum arse was being shitcanned because the fanbase and team may have revolted. Any effect on transfer/recruitment will be expected, but probably no worse than if they kept Ed around mired in uncertainty. Now recruits and players know it will get better after the season.
