Washington just took a 3-star from NOLA that we did not offer.

and trent signed a "four star" from ms. and a three star, louisiana's top player, in isaac from pickering.

how long does it take? i say 4-5 years. a lot of people on here praise johnny jones for his success at north texas. he didn't win until year five. daddy dale didn't win here until year five.

2)"he has no big's that can play" he's recruited o'bryant and hamilton to come in.

that was supposed to be malcolm white... what makes you think these new guys are going to be any better?

o'bryant has a ton of question marks regarding his fitness/effort....

I got that Rudy is trying to protect TJ. I hear all of the excuses. Are all the other programs in the state doing so poorly. I dare say that every other team in Louisiana could beat LSU....and look at what TJ has to offer.

We need to move on....this guy is a poor coach and ineffective recruiter....and embarrassment to LSU.

I don't follow the logic. White is bad, therefore O'Bryant is bad?

I have seen no scouting reports that indicate JOB and White are remotely the same type of player. You are reaching.

White wishes he had film as dominant as JOB's.

I meant in terms of talent evaluation.

Most of thought White would come in and be a difference maker... he could be that beast in the middle that we haven't had since... Davis?

He's been a flop.

Now that name has shifted to O'Bryant. I agree his film looks good, but I have read some scouts give unfavorable reviews about his fitness/effort.

My question was more about why are we so optimistic about O'Bryant's talent when the evaluation of White was bad?

I'm not going to pretend to be as knowledgeable about the basketball program as you or many others on this site... I'm just looking for some honest answers.

as i stated above. 4-5 years. i believe trent needs to show marked improvement next year. 15-19 wins, n.i.t. birth or possible n.c.a.a birth. year five, n.c.a.a. tourney bid and contending for s.e.c. if neither occur, then it's time to go.

i do believe it will happen. I will go as far to say, if he can land a true p.g., it will happen next year. that's a big if because he doesn't have one at this time.

happens all the time. highly recruited kid coming in in any sport = excitement. white has been a huge disappointment, god help anyone who thought he was the next glen davis. im still way more excited about o'bryant as a defender and rebounder than i am his ability to dominate the paint on offense. he may never be a 15+ ppg scorer though i hope im terribly wrong. white should have been a guy looked to defend and add athleticism on defense. his defense has been poor, he hasn't rebounded and his offensive game is non existent. would have loved if malcolm could score anywhere near 10 ppg and just defend, rebound and add athleticism down there. storm being injured and ineffective just takes away any inside scoring presence we could have hoped for this year. that was the 'difference maker' white SHOULD have been, not the 20 and 10 guy davis was. hamilton is an intriguing guy too, unfair IMO to be written off due to white's performances but its understandable. he's a good passer and good offensive rebounder. this team still needs a legitimate ball handler in a bad way though.

so as for the jo'b optimism...white is terrible, we have zero inside presence. im definitely glad we have some kind of prospect coming in as opposed to going into next season praying white turns into a player he'll never be. this is where you can give trent and his staff some credit in recruiting, they are getting regional talent like o'bryant, stringer, turner, derenbecker. if o'bryant was from cleveland, oh instead of cleveland, ms we're probably talking about hamilton being the savior and hoping white somehow turns into glen davis. i guess it's good to have something to be hopeful for.

Every coach makes evaluation mistakes. Calipari made a major mistake by signing former Florida and junior college center Eloy Vargas. Gator fans were screaming that Vargas was a bust. UK took a chance on him and he is horrible. He is worse than White. Does that mean that future UK big men are bad? No, that is stupid.

Even Harrelson at UK is getting his first year of significant minutes as a senior and is playing decent. It is possible for players to improve.

int were you trying to make when you brought attendance at Bama into this?

The point i am trying to make is where bama's program is compared to ours. I promise a recruit going to a bama game and then coming to an LSU game he is going to bama> Someone must be promoting bama's program, TJ gives no one any reason to be excited about bb here. As a bb fan I can think of no one I would be excited to go see play on this team now or next year.

i didn't mean that good... just that he could be a guy that could bang, defend.. board. since we severely lacked bulk since davis left (despite gallant efforts from chris johnson).

Once again, you are making shite up. LSU has faired very well in head-to-head recruiting battles with Alabama. Turner, Stringer and O'Bryant were all offered by Alabama.

All LSU needs to do is win and the crowds will come. LSU has had packed houses during the good years over the last decade, especially for big games.

this was going on before t.j., no one was going to games under brady either. people said they didn't go because they didn't like brady. at some point, it doesn't matter who the coach is concerning attendance, the fan's have to look in the mirror and lsu needs to put a product on the court the fans can enjoy.

this is why trent was hired. he was a guy who was hired to build a "program" not a "team". building a program means winning consistantly.

I know I get depressed by just how bad this team is. But, I do see light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully.

I did expect more from White. Then again, I didn't expect Storm to fall as drastically as he has this year due to injury. If Storm performs more like last year, maybe White performs better too. If O'Bryant and Hamilton are even decent down low, I think White can be a vital piece for next years team.
One guy that I really expected more from was Dotson. He's giving this team nothing from the offensive side. This team can't afford that at all.
As painful as it is to watch, these freshman are getting invaluable "trial by fire" this year. That should help for next years team.

What gets me is playing guys who will never help LSU not now not next year not two years from now. I would rather see young raw guys like Courtney on the floor getting hammered but improving than a 6-11 Garret Green shooting 20 foot fadeaways or a stiff like Ludgwig look totally inept. Play the raw guys and hope they will be better next year and recruits are good and sit the stiffs

Stringer was offered by no one, not sure about the other guys, but I do know bama was packed saturday night and they blew us out.
