LSU was better off with him, now they are better off without him.

Stingray. Then don't post on a thread you think sucks because you in fact are endorsing it.

rtgr - you come on here and flame with no substance to your argument. You obviously have little knowledge of LSU football history or tradition. Probably because you are too young to even know enough of it to matter. So you just try to bash other people to make your own lame self feel better. I still haven't heard a logical statement regarding football yet. I've heard about your goats and personal relationship with goats but nothing pertaining to your thoughts regarding if the history of LSU football was positively or negatively influenced by RP which is what this discussion was all about. Go feed your goat.

In 08 lsu would have been better with him, in 09 it remains to be seen
We are probably better in 2010 because of his early departure though

It was obvious that we should have gotten rid of RP, and Coach Miles really does not need any of the fans' second guessing on this issue.

Jefferson was playing high school football at the time, so Lee or Hatch would have had to play in the SEC championship game.

I agree. I think he served his purpose during 07 and positivley influenced the history of LSU football. Had he had better self control, I think we win 2 more games last year (defense was just too bad) and this year we might be competing for the NC.

Second guess Miles when he recruits a bad player, when the game plan is bad, when the 2 minute offense sucks, or when he says something doumb to the media.

Don't second guess the RP decision.
1.RP was given multiple chances.
2.Miles did not want to screw this kid, nor did he want to screw his team's chances, not to mention getting rid of RP could put Miles on the hot seat. Don't you think Miles put some thought into this decision?

Miles did perfectly. RP needed to go. He served his purpose in 07 but you just can't let that behavior ruin the rest of the team. RP could have Positively influenced Tiger football history twice...but just couldn't control himself...

Our program has 3 national titles in over 100 years of playing football. Hard for me to see how the Tigers beat Tennessee without him (and he played a very good game, by the way - check the stats for one thing). This alone does it for me.

Stingray - The issue posited in the original post is NOT whether RP should have been booted. Rather, the issue raised in the original post is whether LSU had a net benefit from RP's presence at all.

Now quit being an a-hole.

FTR - I think the '07 MNC is worth the '08 record and the '09 record whatever it might be.

However, if we never had RP, would we have recruited a different QB in his place that year?

Just Me, I have figured that out now.

Maybe this could have been worded differently:

quote:

Were we better off with him or without him.

That statement makes no damn sense.

quote:

However, if we never had RP, would we have recruited a different QB in his place that year?

And this. Which is just another example of how this question can't be answered and is better off not being brought up.

the qb even though he inexplicably was the mvp.... did not win the game for us..... we beat tennesse because of the Defense...

FIFY

He was a talented QB and could have done great things, but he was a cancer that couldn't be cured here. He set us back 2 years, but I believe the Team is better without him now.

Short term(2008) = better with him

Long term(2009-) = better without him
