Yes, Skenes is confirmed. He will be the Friday night guy all year. He is not in question.

Yeah, I don't remember where I read it, but I think Jay mentioned a couple times that Skenes is confirmed for Friday but he wasn't going to divulge the rest of the weekend.

He doesn't like to announce until he knows what the other team is doing. I looked at the Iowa series preview and saw Cooper mentioned there. I assume they got that info from Heller and Jay's conversation and aren't just going off last week.

ETA: LSUsports.net - Skenes confirmed on LSU's site.

Game day.

My thoughts on today's game:

Skenes will have great success against the Kansas St lineup. They've hit decent so far this year but, watching them, they aren't great at the plate. They run into some balls. I mean, they're not terrible but Skenes should show why he's elite. After Skenes, I feel like we go to a lefty to try to get through the order at least once. 1, 2, 5, and 9 hitters for Kansas St are LHH. They struggled first time through against Lamar's lefty but got on him some after that. If need be, I think we see Little close. They will have trouble with his stuff - cutter goes one way, change goes the other, and he can dial up mid 90s when he wants to. Ideally, we only use 2-3 arms today.

First time through the order for LSU may be a bit jittery against the LHP, if he throws strikes. I still think we scratch at least a few early, then tag him in the next time through the order. Kansas St seemingly has good pen arms, so they may even go there early. None of them really scare me, though. Decent velo with some junk, but hittable for this LSU lineup.

Final score - LSU 9, Kansas St 3.

I as well drank too many Crawford Bocks at the Minute Maid Classic last year.
