Not to mention his "recruiting style" won't mesh with Alleva, doubt he'd even be considered.
Alleva needs to get the hell over it. If you cant recruit you cant win. Im tired of losing. If a kid gets some a little extra spending money on the side I wil have no qualms about that.

Bring on the Andy Toole pain train!!

Drew's recruiting tactics are pretty well known in basketball circles. If people tell Alleva he's dirty he's likely to avoid him.

Who would we realistically be able to bring in this late?
Interestingly enough, Larry Eustachy's name is being floated for the Colorado State job. Probably looking to jump ship from CUSA after the most recent conference raiding. Don't know if LSU wants another guy coaching from the bench, though.

Gregg Marshall at Wichita State is a guy. Built Winthrop from nothing to something and kept them good, now he's doing the same thing at Wichita State.
Steve Prohm at Murray State is a guy. Lots of Louisiana ties, recruiting this state better than LSU is, watching that team play is as or more fun than anybody in college hoops save for Kentucky.
Mark Schmidt at St. Bonaventure is a guy. If you look at what he's done with a program that was completely dead in five years, getting to the NCAA's and almost beating Florida State there at a place where they've almost never been relevant, he's definitely a guy).
Buzz Williams at Marquette is a guy. Offer him a chunk of change and see what he says about it.
Mike Brey at Notre Dame is a guy. He was interested four years ago.
Wayne Tinkle at Montana is a guy. He's had three straight 20-win seasons and was 25-7 this year.
Tim Cluess at Iona is a guy. He's 50-20 in two years there, and he has won HUGE everywhere he's been going back to when he was a high school coach pumping kids into major colleges one after another.
Steve Alford at New Mexico is a guy. Alford is remembered for not winning as much as people wanted at Iowa (he was in the postseason six times in nine years, 3 of which were in the NCAA's), but they've hardly blown it up since he left there - and at New Mexico he's won 24, 22, 30, 22 and 28 games in five years, with 2 NCAA tournaments and 3 NIT's.
Scott Sutton at Oral Roberts is a guy. He's had six 20-win seasons in the last eight, including five postseason appearances. Comes from a well-known hoops family as well, and if you've seen ORU play those guys are fun to watch.
Kermit Davis is a guy. He's built Middle Tennessee into the dominant program in the Sun Belt; they won 27 games this past year. Kermit's had something of a history, but that guy knows how to turn rocks over and find talent. And he can coach.
Those are just some of the names out there of people I think would jump to this job for what Trent is making. Any one of them would be an improvement over what we have, and a lot of these guys are potential star hires here.

what does Alleva have to do with recruiting?
He could have hired someone to help TJ.
But I get your point.

ADs end up out of jobs for forcing assistants on head coaches.

I don't know. But I'm not the AD. Didn't we see this coming? Should the AD have recognized Trent wasn't getting it done in recruiting?
LSU is a sleeping giant with the right guy.

I just assume he bolts at this point and I've been one of the vocal supporters. Writing is on the wall.

Even though a change is necessary I still don't like the timing of it happening now.

I don't even know where we would begin at this point.

the list above is pretty good but this close to signing day the year is basically a waste thanks to trent.

The "is a guy" stuff had me enthralled as I read the list.

Does this mean that he is leveraging for a pay raise?
