So if I come to LSU and choose to live with my girlfriend who pays all the bills, but dont take the stipend is that a problem?
Just asking?
I have NO clue.....seems as though that starts entering a grey area.....BUT, I would think that you would take it and give it to your "girlfriend"

This thread is officially a game of telephone.

THink about it...if you are getting $1000 in stips AND you are getting $1000 in free rent, you don't think you are receiving $2000 worth of benifits?
You can't be that dense.
Im not being dense, Im trying to understand. He is well within his rights to take the $1000 stipend as long as he does the right thing with it. Will Shep be made to pay back the stipend and the rent. I wouldnt think so.

that's exactly it. some may not believe what's being reported is true, but want to to be so that miles will get fired.

The number of times Russell Shepards girlfriend has been brought up on the Rant and the Recruiting Board is embarrassing.
Nobody knows anything about this. It reassures me that Cam Newton was factually known to have solicited nearly 200k for his services, directly or indirectly, and still nothing has happened to Auburn. There seems to be little to no substantial evidence here. Chill out, and rest assured that our compliance office will do the right thing (as always)

So if rent is 500 and he gets 750/month, is he required to only take 500 of the 750?

no the stipend isn't just for rent, living off campus also involves food etc

I believe someone told Rosetta something to make him think that so he posted it. that in and of itself doesn't make it true.
Rosetta was probably digging around trying to find out why Shep was held out of the Media Days. This is what he came up with. And LSU compliance is figuring out what it going on. To me, that's the story.
We have no other information besides this.

The stipend is to be used for housing so yes.

That's me. And not just because he failed to recognize Ricky Murphy's skillz.

Off-Campus Housing
Student-athletes, who have the approval of their Head Coach to live off campus, are responsible for selecting suitable housing. In this regard, they are encouraged to contact the Residence Life Office to obtain a guide of locations that have been inspected by the University. When receiving housing as part of an athletic scholarship, student-athletes who live off campus may receive a stipend in-lieu-of on-campus housing. Allowances for off campus room/board differ from on campus values. "Cash-in-lieu" checks are distributed at the first of each month, September through May, and the first of June and July during summer school
I believe they recieve the amount that the rent should be. No more no less. Thats why it looks weird bc he probably had to get the compliance dept. to look at where he was living and cut a check for that amount.

So you take the stipend (1000$ in this case), have someone provide housing and pocket the stipend. That would be almost 50k a year
So what part of $50k per year don't you understand? We were calling BS on the guy saying it would be $50k PER YEAR.

That comes out to $24000/yr and $50,000 so far (at least)
SO all you smartasses, think a little bit before you show your ignorance...
