so yes...it was fear mongering. and it backfired

LSU didn't scream bankruptcy. In preparing for the worst case scenario laid out by the legislature, they discussed exigency. Exigency is absolutely an option. If you don't know that, then you need to inform yourself before thinking you have handle on the current situation.

What exactly is "pathetic" about making donations and supporting a politician whose platform you agree with? Let me guess, you are one of those people that just scans the ballot punching the chad for any name with a (D) next to it, huh?

If I recall correctly, LSU plays a football game on the same day of the last governor's election. You see Les up on the podium with Jindal . Everyone can choose who he/she supports. Heck, I like Miles. By him speaking publicly it would carry some weight with those politicians who have a love of LSU football.

You know what else would help increase student turnout? Having the foresight to do a march sooner and not schedule it during dead week. It's not like this issue came out of no where.

Well, first of all, it shouldn't just be students turning out for this event.

Second of all, I agree, but that's really got nothing to do with any of the points I made about Les Miles.

At the end of the day, Miles can do what he wants. He probably doesn't give a frick what Bob Mann thinks, and I'm doubly sure he doesn't give a frick what I think or that I even exist. But it seems most people in this thread are arguing that everyone hates Les Miles and so no one would give a shite if he spoke out about this issue, but that's just not true.

Les Miles gets on stage to celebrate Jindal's victory.

LINK

There is Les Miles connection. Why is an employee of LSU involved in this to begin with?

You do realize the US Constitution affords its citizens individual freedoms when it come to things like speech, expression and the right to vote, do you not?

A bunch of articles about LSU discussing the possibility of exigency. The journalists in those articles compare exigency to bankruptcy, which is not a perfect comparison. And then in the comments on all those articles are hordes of uninformed people like you that apparently can't be bothered to actually learn what exigency is.

Cool

No one is saying that he should be arrested or jailed for saying something. Irrelevant

It's clear that the posts that I've been responding to are people saying that Les Miles saying something would not make a difference.

where do you come to the conclusion that i don't know what exigency is? my complaint is the use of the term bankruptcy...which is fear mongering

There is no doubt that he was trying to raise the alarm there. LSU is getting desperate though. These cuts have lasted too long and aren't getting any better.

What is irrelevant is the question "Why is an employee of LSU involved in this to begin with? "

I am perfectly happy with the head football coach not weighing in on the school financial situation.

If more people would just shut up and go to work, who knows, we may not be having to talk about stuff like this
