re: Rivers looked like a solid QB in his snaps

Looked like he was anticipating the interference when I saw the play. Either way good awareness, and other wise solid in the huddle and did what was asked of him. He got thrown in before it was considered "mop up" duty, and kept everything calm and led a scoring drive. JJ

And? It was against North Texas and all he did was hand off...how can you evaluate anything from this? ...first game or not doesn't matter. It's who we played. You want Rivers seeing the field against Auburn? Florida? USCe? Unless we are up 30 I sure as hell don't. Hopefully Townson and Idaho will provide Rivers more of an opportunity. We shall see.
You prepare against rent a wins so you have it ready when you need it, against teams like Bama. Some folks still don't get it. 1/9 must have gone over their heads.
You prepare when you can, so it's ready when it's necessary. LSu should be prepping the passing game and the backups for when it's necessary and you will not have to worry so much about Rivers when we play Auburn.

Yea, he looked impressive handing the ball off...

The one play that looked sloppy resulted in a pass interference that saved a big gainer.
Wut?!?!?
That was the one play that showed he has ability to make a play when the initial play breaks down.
Without the pass interference, that plays goes for quite some yardage... it was an excellent move to miss the rush off the end and a great impromptu decision to lead the receiver out of the flat and down the field.

That was my point. It looked kind of like a busted play based on Rivers' rollout, but he made a good read and put the ball in a place where it was either going to be an easy first down or a pass interference. Like someone said before, it kind of reminded me of the way his brother makes plays.
I never said anywhere that I want him to replace Mett. That was just a matter of a bunch of waterhead negatigers not understanding proper English. I just like that our backup QB got thrust unsuspectingly into meaningful snaps and didn't throw any pick 6s.

Didn't the drive he lead result in a TD?
You've got to be joking....
