cool

i remember davis very well. he was a backup to toefield until his senior season.

He still rushed for over 1,000 yards combined in those years prior to 2002 along with 13 TDs. in his senior year he had one of the highest YPCs of any LSU backs of the decade and nearly rushed for 1,000 yards in 11 starts.
quote:

that should tell you something.

that toefield was also a good back? toefield played a few years in the NFL, it's not like he was a scrub.

quote:

and no, he didn't share many carries with shyrone carey. carey didn't come around really until 2003 when davis was already gone. carey was a freshman when davis was a senior.

you're right, my bad there.

quote:

davis was a solid back, no doubt, but no he was not the best lsu had in the decade, and quite frankly maybe not even in the top 5

you're being a rantard if you think there are five better LSU backs in the 2000s than Davis.

Let's see if he gets drafted and revisit this at that time.

so of he doesn't get drafted, does that automatically mean he would have gotten drafted higher had he stayed? no, sorry it doesnt. ridley is a 6th-7th round pick or UDFA signee regardless

Already setting yourself up for it, I see.

You don't come out to go undrafted, or go in the 5th or 6th round.

Dominic Davis ran a 4.58 at 213 LBS at the combine.

Ran so well, he didn't even participate in the LSU pro day.

i can make an argument that charles scott, jacob hester, joseph addai, stevan ridley, and alley broussard/justin vincent pre-knee injuries were all better than DD

no, not at all. you're just under th delusion that ridley would have been drafted higher than the 5th or 6th round ever

he isn't going to become something is isn't already...he's been at LSU 4 years, had a great year last year, and what he has to do to make it in the NFL will not become any different by waiting another year.

charles scott,

maybe, scott's 2008 season was pretty damn solid.

quote:

jacob hester,

yeah...he's gritty and has heart.

quote:

joseph addai,

besides being a 1st round pick, addai was a rather average back at LSU.

stevan ridley

probably the worst back of the decade

alley broussard was probably the best RB of the decade by the end of the 2004 season, i'll give you that.

It is certainly my belief that Ridley would have benefited from another year. He looked raw in many areas.

not really, either way he's going to have to find the right spot, play special teams, outwork others fighting for the some slot on the roster, not screw up when he gets a chance, etc.

he was only "average" because 1) vincent started ahead of him when he prob shouldn't have and 2) because he had a high ankle sprain for a good portion of 2005 and still almost rushed for 1000 yards. he wasn't drafted in the 1st round for being an average running back. addai might have been the best blocking we've had in a long long time

Ridley needs something to set himself apart, mainly versatility. Read the scouting reports on him, based on his college play.

Wow, calling out someone's fan ship for an obvious opinion, yeah thats how you prove you're a "real fan".

I don't get what's so wrong about that? the worst back of the 2000s at LSU is better than some of the best at a lot of other schools. Ridley was a good, not great back. speaks more to the talent LSU has had than anything.
