I'm been for some time on this board how great this guy is. Maybe in practice and spring games, but he hasn't shown a thing in any carry in a real game that I can remember. The guy may have great talent and I wish him the best. But he's shown me nothing yet.

Seems as though he's destined to be a change-of-pace or maybe 3rd down type back. He has speed and is good hands. I think this will always be his niche. I'm not sure if I would want to go into any season with him as our main RB. Im not sure if he can push the pile or wear on the defense, and not certain that his body can take the pounding. Im guessing on this though

Good speed, thats about it. I haven't seen anything yet that shows skills as a SEC RB...hitting the hole, acceleration in a crease, ball skills, vision, etc. He reminds me a little of Rondell Mealey. He hasn't had that many chances to showcase his talent but he has had a few touches and nothing came of them. Everyone raves about how he looks in practice, so the jury is still out.

Only looks good against Malveto. I'm not sure what his strength is. It obviously isn't power and he isn't shifty. Maybe speed but without the ability to break a tackle and shifty moves he needs a big hole and most LSU RB's look great when there is a big hole so nothing sets him apart.

To me, KW is the odd man out. CS is the power, and Murphy or Holliday are the speed options. KW doesnt seem that overpowering or too fast.

he has the talent no doubt

Why? Because he pwns in the Spring? He's pretty mediocre in every real game he plays in.

Agree, he won't see the ball much again next year with Scott and Williams returning. Then following year probably won't beat out Ford and others. I don't think he ever fully recovered from ACL surgery several years agp.

If he looks good in Spring ball, then he must have some talent. He looked good in his few plays against OhioState, but this year he was always in the stupid wild tiger with no where to run.

The fact is he's not that fast. He tries to bounce everything to the outside ala Reggie Bush in college, but he's not fast enough to get around the corner ala Reggie Bush in the pros (as a RB). I don't see him ever being a quality starter in the SEC. I think Stevan Ridley needs to be the next RB in after Scott and KW (maybe even before KW but that will never happen).

I think he gets lost in the shuffle. Miles likes tough between the tackle runners. With Ford and the other recruits coming in next year, I think that Murphy is always a 3rd string RB.

I believe in this theory, along with the one who said he was overrated. He had a great spring game and many of us, me included, expected big things that just didn't pan out. I believe he gets his chances, but just isn't producing like the other backs.

I was under the impression that RM was a burner. If he isnt that fast, then that explains everything.

Talent that apparently doesn't show through when he isn't playing in a scrimmage against LSU scrubs.

I've yet to be impressed and seen anything, outside of practice and spring games, that would indicate that he's beyond 3rd on the depth chart. In fact, I think Ridley surpasses him. I am also thinking that he be moved to WR or at least be labeled something (3rd down back). Right now, it just seems like he has no identity on this team. Why can't he be one of the kick returners or take Chad Jones's spot behind Trindon?

The main problem is not Murphy, himself, but the many, many ranters and Tiger football fans alike who said that this guy was "unreal", "breakaway", or "a thousand yard rusher". A lot of people wrote KW off and put RM ahead. Many thought that Scott, KW, and RM would share carries and combine for 2500 yards. Expectations for Murphy were unwarranted and borderline ridiculous. I think the young man has a bright future, still, but he's obviously not going to rush for 1,000; let alone will he get 500.

I agree. He should be moved to receiver (slot) where he can get the ball in space. I don't think he is a power runner who can consistently break tackles and get tough yards.

I saw him play 2x in h.s....no passes to him so I don't know. If he has hands... this is probably his best chance. Nice point.
