Your boy Woodward didn't give him a lot of money to hire assistants even though Pelini was Woodwards hire.
That's a new one on me. I remember O being really excited about Pelini and kind of throwing shade on Aranda? But maybe so, I don't have any insider info there.
But I do remember Les was not allowed to bring in his DC from Okie Lite he wanted to bring here and ended up hiring Bo - worked out better the first time.

Les almost got fired by using the forward pass in 2008. Jared Lee was responsible for 6 pick 6's that year. Took somewhat of a break 2012 and 2013 but still had thousand yard rushers.

O did a lot to get himself fired. But the biggest problem he had was he wasn’t Baton Rouge enough for those people. He was doomed as soon as things turned a little south. Not saying he shouldn’t have been let go or he was a great coach. But he loved being the coach at lsu, and until the “coup” essentially, the players all played their arse off for him.

He lost chase, shelvin, and Vincent to covid.
they all made BUSINESS DECISIONS. cut the dumb bullshite kid.
we lost stingley who faked an injury per reports and also made a business decision, arik gilbert and marshall.
we lost all those studs then brennan getting hurt 3 games in.
then players admitting they quit during the BLM BS. 2020 woulda been way different without all that BS. it sunk O and could not recover in 2021.

Yeah, that COVID epidemic that solely affected LSU. Give me a break.
Yeah a brand new defensive coordinator installing his scheme over zoom to a team that probably lost more starters from the previous season than any other team in the country wasnt disproportionately affected.

Orgeron and staff chaged the offensive philosophy for that game and we set an lsu sec record for total offense

Blows my mind that y'all insult kids that try hard but don't succeed. Save that for players like Perkins for playing lazy and making business decisions every game.

People will disagree but I think the Covid offseason and the team revolting against him had a lot to do with that.
Of course it had an affect, You could not pick two defensive coordinators more different than Aranda and Pallini in personality, style of coaching and type of defense. Couple that with the building being locked down, no supervised workouts, no spring ball, and all vocal leaders now in the NFL, and a limited fall camp to install an entirely different scheme. Hell, even our most talented and experienced guys in Stingley and and Jacoby Stevens were aloof and/or not very vocal. I'm not sure he even lost the team as the offense was pretty damn solid before Brennan went down.
I am not excusing Ed checking out mentally, but that defense did not have a chance in hell of being successful.
