No, "you suck cocks" was also heard on TV.

It wasn't because of you suck tigers" because you suck and tigers would have been said at the same time, totally making what was said harder to hear.

We also said it during Auburn. Cox was the QB. It wasn't applicable after and got out of hand

I am just saying that students will always want to say screw you to the administration and that there are solutions and taking away tickets is not one of them.

I am a traditionalist when it comes to LSU I wish freshman still wore pajamas to the games and beanies, I hate when we wear anything but white, day games piss me off. All the buildings that arent in the traditional italian style are a travesty to me.I try to start the Hot Boudin chant every game.

The student section and TS' reputation however bad are still traditions of LSU and should be preserved

i agree with this, if its not one thing... it will be another. if its not oweo... they'll create words to another song. kick them out of the stadium... god knows what. we under-estimate how much free time these kids really have...

Kids in tow or not...it's so dumb. That's the best they could come up with?

That's something Maryland basketball fans would say.

LSU has been known for its noise and rowdy fans, but not being a bunch of dicks, so I'm glad the chant went away.

It's kind of like my fraternity. Started in the 80s with some good, productive hazing. As the years went on some guys kept doing more and the year after it gets worse.
Then by 1998 we get our chapter revoked because some a-hole makes a pledge jump of the roof onto a trampoline, then landing in the pool. Kid didn't get hurt, but was pissed. THen the brother brags about it and wants to make it a common ritual.

Wow, I took that way out of context just to say that thinks keep proliferating, sometimes.

This shite has been been beaten to death on here over the years. Every year, the students think that they are they are the very first ones to discover dirty words.

I'm tired of it. Same shite Different Day.

The funny part of this particular dispute is that these same radical, wanna-be badasses who want to say 'frick you' to DA MAN will be typing the same shite that I am in a few years.

For real. Seen it here at TD.

then let them be radical, wanna-be badasses while they can. college is short. and honestly, there's a lot worse things then a bunch of students yelling "dick" in unison

the beauty of youth is you are not burdened with the big picture.

Its paradoxical. on one hand its the STUDENTS game. the rest of the stadium is just observers. on the other hand, its competitive D1 with TV and money and etc etc.

BLah Blah.

the bottom line is, pumping music in via speaker instead of live band music makes college football cheap.

the one thing above all else that makes collge football>the pro football is the tradition.

TV and pursuit of money is stealing it away fast enough(with day games etc) there is no reason to hand it over for the pursuit of a cheap laugh.

calculated risk young ones. Greeks struggle with the same problems... its "cool" to not care but some times in time not caring makes things less cool than "playing ball" a little bit.

I think you all forget it really got bad when they took away tiger rag for a-hole a basic cable curse. Draconian sanctions against drunk college students always leads to escalation, it was never about being cool. It was always about pissing off the administration.
Past student movements protested against wars, international atrocities, famine...

This student body protests against being hindered in their group chants of vulgarity.

Don't act like yall were saints either TS reputation has been the same forever and I have seen videos of students doing some pretty atrocious things in the cholly mac era.
In the 90's the worst, consistent thing was on the First Down cheer, "kick their arse!" And that wasn't THAT long ago. (or was it?? )

Then they tried to bring it back, and told us to say "Tigers" instead, and since our fanbase is so goddamned bi-polar, half of us yelled "You Suck" whilst the other half yelled "Tigers", thus becoming "You Suck Tigers".

I just want to hear the damn songs/cheers sans vulgarity. Curse all you want on an individual basis, but by the hundreds it sounds horrible.

Those were the days...... (followed shortly by the removal of "Tiger Rag" from the band's playlist - "ha ha ha ha a-hole........")

Are we (90's) to the present student body, as old and obsolete as the 70's were to us??

I haven't been to a game since 2003 I think, but I have been trying to hear over TV whether or not that chant was still used after 1rst downs, and now I assume that it's not.

The "First Down cheer" is still used, if that's what you're referring to.

Rather that the fans don't get all the good chants banned. I liked Neck, but I can see how attending a game with a child could be a problem.

If you bring your children to campus for an LSU game and are offended by profanity...you need to stay at home.
