Yea like when Flynn or mett we’re starting as 5th year seniors. We sucked those years. I can also give you about 29 other examples of 5th year qbs playing great God our fan base is full of morons.
Yeah, you're right, I'm a moron to think that our next 2 recruiting cycles unable to land a quarterback better than a not ready for the NFL RS senior MB would not be a desirable outcome. You got me there.

Oh, and Mett was a transfer, Flynn was a rare exception very late bloomer. MB does not appear to be that type of player. For the recored, I believe MB will start for us but not as a RS senior.

Why the hell was this such an unpopular post?

It's completely factual. There aren't a ton of examples of healthy players taking a redshirt outside of their freshman year.

Because he can play in 4 games and still red shirt. The new rule changes things big time.

Let him play v. Southeastern and Tech. Stay sharp and focused.

Then hold him out unless needed throught the heart of the schedule.

Put him back in the last two games ... Total 4 games experience, some reps early-on in case needed vs. SEC, keeps redshirt.

Yes, he could lose his redshirt if he were needed more often during the middle of the season ... but I think the added experience has value.

This exactly. Play him this weekend to get rid of any rust and some real game evaluation forbid by Coach E. Then hold him until needed. The redshirt might come off but he is the only backup and needs a level of readiness for this year.

He’s not going to redshirt

Between mop of duty, injury to Burrow, helmet coming off, etc, odds are extremely high Brennan gets into more than 4 games

I can say this with confidence knowing Brennan and the the kind of competitor that he is. If he does not see substantial play time this year and is not competing to start in spring, I cannot see him staying at LSU for the 2019 season. He does not strike me as the kind of person that will sit out a total of 3 years when he knows he can play for any number of programs that would flourish by utilizing his throwing skill set. As much as he loves LSU he will not sit for 2 more years. And if that happens good luck with Parrish or the next flavor of the day graduate transfer.

Not sold on the helmet coming off example.. One play and I would send in 3rd string for a 1 play handoff (or put Devin White "Wildcat" in)
Just having a tough time wasting him in cleanup role with a big lead and we're not really throwing downfield. Remember he has game experience from last year and he worked with current receivers in Spring and Fall.
This is a tough one and this thread seems really split....

Being that he is the only other scholarship QB on the roster, you shouldn't red-shirt him. Reason #2000 why we needed to sign a QB this year.

We’re definitely trying to redshirt him it’s obvious

His point is, if Burrow's helmet comes off and Brennan comes in for 1 play then that's 1 game towards his 4.

The question is, when that happens do you go ahead and squeeze in as many reps for the remainder of that game? If that's not #5, I say yes.
