Really good read on the Etling/Harris topic that sheds some light on the stats

If this hasn't been posted already here is a really good read on a break down of why Harris probably doesn't see the field again unless all back-up QB's shite the bed.

Not wishing Harris anything bad, but other QB's like Scott deserve a shot if things go bad for Etling.

It looks like if Etling does shite the bed the next in line, at least it looks that way from the JSU game, is McMillian. I completely agree with you regarding Harris we have seen him and his lack of production for the past 7 games and LSU can no longer afford to try and make him a pocket passer, which is clearly isn't. Problem is other than Etling both our back up QB's are dual threat also and I personally feel that Harris issues were trying to pound a square peg in a round hole by trying to make Harris a pro-style QB from a dual threat and that experiment failed miserably. Just like it did for Jennings and JJ, SO QUIT TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH THAT LSU COACHES!!!!

I keep hearing Harris is dual threat but he never struck me as much of a runner.

I don't really get it either. Harris has been playing in LSUs offense longer than he played hs ball. He should be better.

People here are seriously underestimating McMillan. Much like what they did with Etling. Remember asking a poster how Etling looked in a closed scrimmage and got 27 down-votes and 3 up votes. Not saying Etling is all-world, but he at least gives our guys a chance. Just wait and see how much Etling opens up the running game for Fournette compared to Harris last year.

Why did Miles have Scott as third string for the Wisconsin game?
I don't care about burning Scott's redshirt if he happens to be the best guy for the job. Then you got Brennan coming in as well.

Harris may never see the field again, but that article is a load of shite. Harris ran 6 plays and 4 passes against JSU, and while he was mostly awful in that limited showing, 90% of the numbers in the article are against Wisconsin. Wisconsin's defense is lightyears ahead of JSU's defense.
While I'm cautiously optimistic about Etling this weekend, the idea that there is some sort of clear separation between these two at this moment is laughable.

Jordan Jefferson and Anthony Jennings were both pro-style QBs. I know they were black and they ran a little bit, but they were still pro-style QBs.

The eye test disagrees with you.

, I've been saying that since Saturday. Etling has better mechanics and looks smoother in the pocket. However, at the end of the day the only thing that matters is the results - making good throws/decisions. Harris has made one terrible decision (INT to end the Wisky game) and has made 7 bad passes out of 22 throws against Wisconsin - I didn't include JSU because I haven't looked at each of his throws. Etling made 6 poor throws out of 15 total passes.
The idea that Etling is so much more accurate is a myth. I know it feels that way because Etling did well on short passes - passes BH has struggled with historically - but Etling had some issues too.
We'll know a ton more come Saturday though.

No shite! It's like some of the Danny haters didn't watch the Offense actually move FORWARD..............without the best RB in the country.........it's over for Harris. Hell McMillon came out and completed a pass, then threw a stiff arm while running, dude has moxie.

Yeah, I don't know why people keep saying they're DT. I guess because of their skin color...

I agree somewhat that the coaching staff has tried, with Harris, to make him something he's not.
But oftentimes they are asking him to stand on two feet and hit a wide open receiver. The dual threat quarterbacks at Clemson, Louisville, Ole Miss and other places are more than capable. Harris is not.
He's not a great runner, and erratic passer. What else is left? Stand here. Throw it there. Not complicated. Still seems too hard for him.
