If they get swept tomorrow, it may be unavoidable.

If this series indeed goes down as a sweep, we’ll be 6-9 in the SEC. The magic number seems to be 13 SEC wins in the regular season. That would mean going 7-8 in the second half of SEC play. That would mean either winning 2 series 2-1 or sweeping 1 series, while avoiding getting swept again.

However, with as many bad non-conference losses as we have (5. FIVE!!! home non-conference losses to teams outside the RPI top 150) that will keep our RPI down enough to the point where Hoover may become very important to making a regional, even with 13 regular season SEC wins. whether that comes through winning 2 or 3 games at the Met or having to win the entire thing.

You are right....After last year and 2 out of 3 Nattys, I thought JJ had earned major respect with the best players in the portal that would want to play for LSU, the top program in the nation.
I don't know what happened, but I don't think I have ever been this surprised at the drop in quality players and a team that was highly touted by so many. As usual, I took the bait, and LSU was ranked #1 in the nation, and I thought rightfully so.
They and I have never been more wrong. I am mainly concerned that players that might have been considering coming to the top program are having serious negative thoughts, and this could be the beginning of the demise of a great program. It has happened to others, and I guess LSU is not immune to being a non factor in college baseball in the future.
the best get better because of what LSU has accomplished and they can drop out of that world with perceived breakdown in the program. hard to argue there isn't a major problem at LSU baseball right now. We will see how JJ reacts. I'm rooting for the old coach.

I think we’ll go 3-1 the rest of the weekday games. If we do that we’d have to go 2-13 our last 5 series. Not happening.
