As soon as we can recruit some dominate DL and LB's.

In college football there are windows to compete for a championship (windows for everyone except for Alabama). 2005-2007 and 2010-2012 were windows for us. You'll see that 2015 will start another window for us.

Remember all those great FSU teams under Bobby Bowden won only 1 National Championship. The same can be said for Spurrier at Florida, and Carrol at USC. The fact that Saban is making it look easy. doesn't mean that it really is from a historical perspective.

I know that many of us have PTSD from 1/9/12 and 11/3/12 (11/3/12 hurt worse in my opinion), but perspective has never been the LSU fan base's strength...

Keep the Faith, we will be back...

One cavet, if the defensive doesn't show signs of improvement next year, it might be time to part ways with the Chief.

Sorry not to be really excited, but we hear something along these lines almost every year.

Yeah, no you don't. Compared with the class coming in...yeah, no.

Consummate troll thread. Opens with what seems like a genuine question (though the "no flame" was almost a bit much and threatened to give it away). Then use other posters' responses as a launching point for collateral or flank attacks without ever firmly answering the question you posed in the OP yourself.

Well done my friend.

It all comes down to signing day 2014. If we can't land the big names still on the board and finish top 5 you can forget about competing any time in the immediate future. Everyone loves to talk about Saban but they forget about what Gus is doing at Auburn and Sumlin at A&M. We want be able to compete with them if we can't seriously upgrade our talent.

2016 IMHO...

2014 will struggle offense, defense improves
2015 offense improves, defense improves more
2016 both O and D very strong.

2015 looks like the most likely, however we do not know what next year will look like, also maybe next year. We get to play an easier schedule next year so you never know.

Do you honestly think that the LSU recruits are not influenced by the shite performance BCS game and the total domination of both lines by BAMA?

Remember in 2011 we lost both tackles and a guard. So by SEC play we had 1 returning OL starting

We also didn't Cam Cameron

assuming we get a great recruiting class it still should be a good one this year. I would say in a couple of years we will be in the hunt again. We have a defense to rebuild and the offense will take a step back.
