Reactions to Saban getting mad over Steele question?

This was probably mentioned before, but I had a couple questions about it.
1) Was Saban this much of a jerk for no reason at LSU? I remember him having little patience for dumb questions, with some good sarcasm at times. I don't think it's absurd to wonder if he has some knowledge of LSU's defense this season. I may start calling them the grumps as long as he's there.
2) Did he react this way because he's full of it maybe? He has a guy leave his program to coach at a rival's program along with one of the best defensive line coaches. He wasn't just a bit curious, especially as a defensive coach?
3) I also wonder if maybe he feels a bit betrayed by Steele, which would be hilarious.

of course it bothers him. McElwain was just talking about having to change up signals because he's coaching against someone he was previously on the same staff as.
So I'm assuming Steele knows things they do on defense and offense. He doesn't like it when he feels at a disadvantage at all. See the huhn and substitions.

I will take The Mad Hatter over him any day. Les makes football fun. Nick not so much, he is wound way to fricking tight.

It was in the video. He seems a little butt hurt having to talk about LSU.

He was a fricking prick when he was here.

Saban seemed to want to downplay the LSU "rivalry". He also seemed to want to inject himself into LSU's success -- "we had great athletes when I was there." It was weird.
I took it that the repeated LSU questions irritated him, rather than anything particular to Steele. Afterall it's not like Steele made a lateral move like Chavis stupidly did. (Think Chavis regrets that?

I'm with you. Miles has made being an LSU fan enjoyable in so many ways. Nick might have won a couple more big games, but it's hard to say for sure.

Yeah, it's become a "little bit of a rivalry" alright.

I don't know. I think he's past his prime. He's under less pressure there and ridiculously compensated. He did good things when he was with LSU, don't want to be too sour grapes, but I wasn't displeased with the change once we knew the new staff.

I didn't think his spoken reaction was really that bad. But the look he gave the guy asking the question did look like a look Michael Corleone would give someone who had just made the mistake of pissing him off.
It can't be easy living in gump land along with dealing with the overwhelming expectations year to year at Alabama. And I think those things combined have aged and worn him down some.

Maybe I just naturally took his side, and I know people around the team didn't like him. I just don't remember him creating the same adversarial atmosphere at routine press conferences. He acts like they just lost lost and his dog just died every time now.

To him, it's definitely a rivalry. He cant admit that to the fanbase though.

It's interesting to think about all the things that have changed since Saban left. Smart phones, for one. There were few impromptu interviews like these. He's also coached 150 or so more games, so he's learned a lot. We all change. Some change is for the better some for worse.
