I disagree, I think it has more to do with professional football vs. college football. Plus, the New Orleans Saints have held the state of La hostage and threaten to leave if they do not get their share of the La State budget which comes from La tax payers. LSU will never threathen to leave the state. LSU represents the entire state of Louisiana, New Orleans Saints have fans in Louisiana and also the Gulf Coast region which include Miss and Alabama.
