Cpm, while I don't always agree with his coaching, is one he'll of a recruiter. He built this luxury of having a winning program every year and top 5 atmosphere. He inherited a pretty bad team.

You have taught me that CPM is the best coach in the SEC because the can literally do nothing, no recruiting, no game managing, no coaching, and somehow still own he other 13 coaches in nearly every statistical category including head to head match ups, post season appearances, post season wins, conference wins, conference tournament wins, and even average recruiting class (Louisiana down years and out of state recruits included). Remarkable. Simply remarkable.

Maybe in state talent was down. Lsu wasn't that good with smoke. Maybe recruits perception of lsu had momentarily change with smoke coaching.. Just maybe.
