If the waters of the northwestern Gulf of Mexico had been cooler in August 2005, and the westerly wind had been different, Louisiana would never had gotten hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Jones and Smith didn’t play on the same team. Jones was a true freshman in 94 and LSU swept the regional but he did hit three homeruns in the final. Aaron Boone and Geoff Jenkins were on that team.

We will eventually catch USC just be patient. I expect Jay to win a few more over the rest of his tenure. USC hasn't been good in a while and don't expect that to change anytime soon.

The birth of the deadening of the bats.
I contend that it was more than the weather that took that trophy from us. I 100% believe that the umps took it in to their own hands to stifle “gorilla ball”. LSU blew away the hr record the previous year and were a freight train against State and USC in the first two games. If you remember media and officials constantly crying about how it wasn’t real baseball. If you think KP was a sour bitch about Arky and CCU losing, Joe Morgan and the others were openly disgusted with all the homers. It was an open crusade against “gorilla ball”. I believe the umps spread that strike zone for the next couple of games to stifle GB. Ironically, the Championship game was 21-14 or something like that.
