The only one that's been saying bad shite about him is Speedy and he's a cop so that's so surprise. In my line of work Cops are the biggest assholes I have to deal with and I interview prisoners on a daily basis

Yeah Dardar is a great guy. I'm just an a-hole.

I mean all he ever did was a few home invasions, some robberies, a bunch of burglaries. Tried to kill a few cops, stab a couple of police dogs. Threaten to kill an innocent resident or 2 in the process.

You know, just minor shite.

I am completely blowing his indiscretions out of proportion.

He was a great player at LSU, so we should all overlook this

Ramsey Dardar

Announcer kept saying how great a player the all american center for Nebraska was. But every time they panned in Dardar was knocking him on his azz. Dardar was beat'n his azz the entire game and the announcers finally shut up about it.

I remember this well. The center was Dave Rimington and he won the Outland Trophy that year. He was holding Dardar the whole game because he was getting beat. The announcers finally had to stop isolating on Rimington.

i had a memory-lane moment remembering those guys. Richardson was a beast...don't know if he still does, but he held the single-game tackle record at one time;Britt, Dale, Hobley, & Daniel...

Richardson still holds the record. There were ten future NFL players on the two deep of that defense. FWIW DarDar has been in and out several times but has always violated his parole in some way.

I'm not even going to get into the specifics as I know an awful lot just like you, but people can actually be remorseful in life you know. It's the ones that never are that scare the shite out of me. Did you know Ramsey has met quite a few victims and their family members? I doubt it.

No one said he didn't do some shitty stuff but he's not the animal you're portraying him to be.

The judge called him a "one man crime wave." A lot of BR residents were relieved when he was finally arrested and convicted.

Cant condone what he did after he left LSU. But at LSU he was a man!!!!!! He, Leonard Marshall and Bill Elko were probably the most physically dominant front line ever to play at LSU. I used to say if Michael Brooks had been two years older that defense may never have been scored on.

As far as the Orange Bowl I clearly remember the announcer repeatedly saying how dominant Remington had been all year and how he had never come out of a game with Nebraska up less than 3 touchdowns. Flash to the third quarter LSU leading and they pan to the Nebraska bench and show Remington sucking oxygen while the Nebraska offense is on the field and Ramsey is kicking his backup's arse. Back then there was no neutral zone and Ramsey used to line up within inches of the center and punish him. He made Remington his bitch that nite.

Might have not been such a great person but he was a great Tiger football player!

Dude it was also my all time favorite defense and the only quibble here is it was one of my all time fav tigers Lawrence Williams not Burks in the middle Burks was a backup that year he started in 83 and was a very good linebacker not to mention kicked some Tulane arse in the famous brawl!!

Seems like a lot of players from that era have issues.

You could be right. A lot of good athletic programs during that era began having drug problems. Fortunately, soon after that time period, drug-testing procedures would be enacted that have helped teams stay (mostly) clean these days...too late for players already addicted like Dadar though. In the Deep South in particular, allegedly, the NFL champion-calibur Miami Dolphins had a big drug problem and suddenly declined in the late 1970s. Rising teams of the late 1970s like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints also faced disasters suddenly in 1980.

Did anyone see him on the Lockup special about Hunt Correctional? Interesting. Any memories of him playing?

Yes. He owned the All-American Dave Rimington in the '83 Orange Bowl. He also used to empty my trash can and dust my cubicle when he was an inmate at the State Police Barracks.

His life went downhill after that.

He was a semi-literate farmboy when he came to LSU, but went to St. Louis and got hooked on blow with all of his FB money. His young son was killed when he got away from his mother and ran out into the street while she was shopping for a car.

Prison is safe for a lot of people. They don't do well in life. Remorseful and penitent are easy when your demons are kept at bay. When you are on the street with them, its a different story.

It was classic! The great Outland Trophy winner was getting his arse handed to him and he was holding onto Dardar's jersey for dear life!

Agreed. I hate to always blame refs, but I remember a BS late hit out of bounds call that kept a late Nebraska drive going. The call was on Joiner maybe? The announcers agreed that it was a bad call.
