NC State will be hosting 6'6 2/3 Ralston Turner this weekend for an official visit. ESPN BIO Two-year starter at LSU, great size, very good shooter.

It's premium info on the N.C. State Scout board, but the above quote is the free portion:

So does that mean that he officially will be transfering?

Forgive my ignorance, but can another school set up/accept what essentially are "recruiting visits" from players who are current players at another school?

This means that he has asked for and been given a release.

N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried recruited Turner when he was at Alabama.

This has probably been in the works for a while and explains the Patrick Swilling rumors that have been going around. LSU will likely offer Swilling if Turner follows through on the transfer.

They can accept visits, just cannot proactively reach out.

If he's looking than obviously he wants to leave. Good luck to him wherever he ends up...There were too many times last season where his lack of offensive production put the team in a bad spot.

Once a player asks for and has been given a release, other schools can reach out.

Think the writing was on the wall for Turner. Morgan, Coleman and Hammink were going to squeeze playing time from Turner. Hope he finds a good spot to land.

I think Shavon Coleman will start at the three. Shane Hammink could backup 1, 2 and 3.

good luck to the guy but I won't miss his lack of what I would call desire to get better

I do, too. But I think playing time on the wings (whether at the 2 or 3) was going to sparse. Wouldn't be surprised to see Isaac get squeezed as well.

Agree. COuld have even been one of those mutual agreement things. JJ may have already evaluated the talent left and Turner was considered dead wood. Letting him "transfer" is more dignified than just cutting his scholarship and telling him that he will be sitting in the student section next season.

I don't think he ever fulfilled his potential, and I don't know if he had the work ethic to ever get there. Perhaps he just had a sophomore slump.

Best of luck to him wherever he ends up. I don't think his production will be difficult to replace.

Good luck to him. Not a very good player for us though.
