I don't understand the arguing about 2005.
Fact is, LSU lost to Tennessee (a bad Miles' loss maybe, a bad TEAM loss, yes...but the players had to be drained). Then they got hammered by UGa, also having something to do with no weeks of rest because of the hurricane.
UT, as mentioned, beat a damn good OSU team, before the Big Ten hit inferior status, killed Oklahoma, and pretty much everybody else, then outdid USC.
What is the argument? Coulda, woulda, shoulda may work for the 2006 season, but UT was simply better.
They went on the road to face premier talent, they hurdled the OU challenge, and beat USC in their backyard...no blemishes.
What LSU did in '05 was amazing in its own right, but I don't see what the bickering about '05 is.
As for '06, people also seem to forget some of the shitty calls in the swamp. The phantom holding call that negated a td. The play where Hester got in, but didn't really get in, the end zone...etc. Those calls happened at pivotal moments in the game.

7 of those loses were from top 5 teams, 5 of which went on to win the BCS NC.

Les Miles has 18 losses while at LSU: Fourteen losses to ranked opponents Twelve losses either away or at neutral site Four losses to unranked opponents Four losses in OT/triple OT One loss to non-SEC team
So Miles has less OCC loses than Saint Saban has to powerhouses UAB and ULM
