Questions for those that have been to S Carolina before

I’m bringing my 9 year old down Friday evening. Where would you suggest we stay? Assuming since it’s not a party trip for me there’s no reason to stay right in the heart of downtown? Save the money and stay on the outskirts? Any cool spots to check out Friday night with a 9 year old though?
As far as game day, assuming just buying a reserved parking pass for around the stadium is the best option? Even if we stayed downtown it appears that it’s still a drive to the stadium? Parking passes are around $100 but it appears to be reserved. I’m all about stress free for early morning games especially somewhere I’ve never been before

If you're looking to just entertain the 9yr old I would suggest staying at Hampton Inn Suites on Hwy 378 in Lexington ( just across the river from Downtown Columbia) and taking them to Big Trampoline Park about a mile down the road. Lot of good places to eat around the park. Bout a 20 minute drive to stadium if you leave early. If you're late traffic getting to the stadium is hell

It’s been awhile since we saw a game there, but stay wherever you want, get the most points etc., you’ll need to drive to the stadium anyway. The stadium is not on campus, it’s near the fairgrounds. Tailgating is whatever you want to bring or set up yourself, there is parking available in lots and some open fields in the area. The SC fans all party in some old cabooses around the stadium. They are the most courteous fans in the SEC, they just can’t stand those Clemson tigers.

I am driving up the morning of from Charleston. I have been to several games there but always have parking issues. Where is the best place to park near the stadium. We plan on getting there around 10.

I was looking at the fairgrounds lot? Seemed the cheapest and it’s a reserved spot?
And I figured earlier the better with game day there.

Thanks. I was actually eyeing this hotel already. Probably no time for the tramp park as it’s an in and out trip for us. Thanks!

I’ve been there but can’t help with logistics. Stayed at a Marriott or something downtown that use to be a bank tower. SC is a great game day experience. Explain what a gamecock
is beforehand because she will see the word everywhere.

I’ve been there, in an RV. Night before the game, generator exhaust manifold broke off, made the most God awful, loud noise. Damned near woke up the whole RV park. Stadium area is great! Has all of these old passenger rail cars outside, party time! Get into the stadium, theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey is playing, their mascot “Cocky” is going nuts in a cage, then comes game time, and we thump their arse. Was a great trip!

So are the fairground reserved lots the best bet parking wise? Seem close by

Every time I have been there I have gotten there early and parked along streets not far from the stadium.
Being that the game is early, less likely you'll be able to do this.

Depends on when you plan on getting there and how much you're willing to pay for parking and how quick you want out of the vehicle....if early just roll up bluff road and you'll find a good spot id park at a intersection only cause that's where the cops will be to direct traffic to help you out....traffic is a nightmare at games since it's downtown, and the massive amount of traffic. Id say beat bet at 10 on a noon kick just pay off the attendant at the bowling alley at the shell across from Quaker steak/bowling alley off the interstate and hike it to the stadium or hitch a ride on a golf cart and top the driver. 2 hours before a kickoff with GameDay in town you won't get good parking

I bought a pass for the fairgrounds. I want to not worry about finding a spot and get to the game with little trouble. I am sure traffic will suck but it can’t be worse then Tiger Stadium.

Depends how much you're willing to pay. You can park pretty close to the stadium on bluff Rd for around $40. The roads across from the fairgrounds ( rosewood extension is the name of one) is your best bet.
