Nice avatar. What is your relationship to ND? My son was on the team this past year.

Exactly. The runner was returned to 3rd because, in theory, the ump there could have missed the no tag & called him safe on the appeal. With SEC umps, it's never safe to assume anything was done correctly the first time. What was really funny was at first, both Robertson & Lang, especially Lang, was trying to get the call as the ball not being caught. But, again, SEC umps. Watch the replay & the ump at 2nd base was not far away from Robertson & was staring right at the point of the ball entering the glove. He had to have been blind not to have seen it bounce.

Yeah. The home plate umpire was also CONFUSED on Fraleys safe slide at the plate earlier in the game. That wasn't even close

I'm pretty sure the umps were drunk last night.

Reid touched 3rd base when he got the ball, which put out the runner at 3rd who didn't tag up.

right, and that has to be appealed.

This was clearly a triple play (with the assist of the ump calling it a catch).
1. Batter is out on 'catch'
2. Original runner from 3rd is out as soon as Reid has the ball and touched 3rd base (same concept as getting doubled off after a line drive)
3. Original runner on 2nd is tagged out by Reid

Regardless there was NO reason for a runner to be standing on 3rd during the appeal after the play.

No it doesn't. Or at least shouldn't. The umps got it wrong

It SHOULD have been a triple play, but technically not since the umps didn't acknowledge Reid doubling up the runner at third, thereby requiring the appeal.

If we're being completely honest, the 100% correct call would be that KRob didn't make the catch and we had a double play at home and 3rd, with Arkansas ending up with runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs.

Assuming that KRob caught it, an official triple play (without appeal) would have been the right call. I'm OK with getting this call though, it makes up for Fraley being called out at the plate.

It SHOULD have been a double play, because Kramer didn't catch it, he got the force at home and then Romero threw to third for the tag.

It was definitely a head-scratcher. But in the end it went lsu's way, which we deserved because they literally took a run from us earlier that we had earned.
