Holtz didn't like it too much when Saban kept beating him down

A lot of what Holtz does is geared for entertainment and ratings, to tune into what he'll say next and their biggest viewers are sec locales so they play to it, controversy or whatever gets ratings.

That's what there about. One of the reasons there going to Morgantown for Gameday, never been there, sec team in the house

My guess:

Holtz has always picked the "little guys" and underdogs since he has been on the show. LSU does not fall into either catagory.

Lou Holtz

Try google. It's pretty easy.

I actually got it from a WV newspaper, but google is much easier to confirm information like this....

Just like Lee Corso will put on the Tiger head to piss off WV. All about causing controversy to lure you to watch the game.

The reason he seems to be anti-LSU is because he was good friends with Bo Rein. Bo Rein is the coach who was hired and died in a mysterious plane crash before he ever coached a game. Lou Holtz believes LSU is responsible for his death.

I've heard Lou hates LSU because he blames them for the death of Bo Rein (LSU head coach that died in a plane crash before the season started). Not sure if true.

Damn Curly, I was a tad bit late.

It seems to me that Gameday forces its analysts into taking opposing positions,

this....bigtime.

Maybe it's in the contract - "Lou, you have to take the underdog every week, although it makes you look like a slobbering arse, so that Herbie, Mark, and the rest of our crew look like they actually know what they're talking about.........."

sad.....but probably true.

Haha. I'm pretty sure this is the correct answer. My dad heard it from someone he believes is very credible and passed the info to me a couple years back.

Not real sure about the bias issue. I do know that Joe Dean talked to him years ago about the football job, but he evidently was not interested. Instead, Joe went with Hallman, which was one of the greater blunders in the history of the atheletic program. Lou is out there simply entertaining and if some of it gets folks stirred up, all the better. The guy has to know a little something about what he is talking about. After all, Notre Dame's last NC came under his watch.

Not to hijack the thread, but can you post a larger version of your avatar? I'd like to try to make a vector out of it.....

He is failing miserably!! I blame it on dementia!

I don't understand the people that say he is an entertainer and good for football. He needs to retire. I block out 90% of what the old timer says and blame it on him being to far removed from the game to be relevant.

Lou coached at Arkansas*, ND, and SC and had a miserable win/loss record versus LSU.

*I dont think we ever played him while he was at Arkansas, though.

Lou Holtz is an entertainer. His comments & picks are designed for that exclusively.

Agree, every program on t.v seems to have their guys picking opposites. The very rarely choose the same team to win.

Lou Holtz should have someone do a voiceover for him.

Don't fall for it. Holtz' pick was solely to try to hype the game.

It was scripted. Trust me.
