Was there for '97 and '07 Fla, '03 UGA. It was very loud, especially the 2nd half.
One thing I will add, the T-I-G-E-R-S after the go-ahead TD was the loudest and angriest I've ever heard.

quote:My experience is very similar. This game was top 5, but can't specifically remember the noise level of every big game going back that far. Remember USC 79 was about the same. Saturday night, the crowd was there and the players showed up except for a few dumb arse penalities. Too bad the head coach was out to lunch as usual.
Just my opinion but I've been to all of the big home games since the late '60s and last night was the loudest I've ever experienced

07 was amazing of course. And I'll add that the loudest moment was when they announced that USC lost. Both fan bases went nuts. It was great

I tried to contribut as much as possible, but I'll admit at halftime, I felt defeated. That last drive by Bama to score was depressing. I stood out under the walkways and crushed 3 crawfish pies and 4 bottles of water and came back pumped. I can't believe we lost that game. I've been in bed all day thinking about it.
BTW, was asked to sit down by two different people. I couldn't believe it. Just said, "ok, brah" and continued to stand and cheer.

no one can remember exactly how loud it was in each of the big games to give an exact comparison, but I have been to most all home games over the past decade and I can tell you, saturday night was right up there with the big ones in terms of noise...last night was the first time I can remember consistently not bieng able to hear the band over the constant roar...

Say what you want. When Landry caught that TD , TS was as loud as ever before. Became unglued

Florida 07 was louder because I learned my lesson and had earplugs this time! Did TV show the LSU bench eruption at the end of the 3rd? That was one of the most awesome things I've ever seen in Tiger stadium!

I don't have much to compare it too, so I can't say it beat the other big games listed so far, but the first 2.9 quarters were great. The last 1.1 quarter was absolute pandemonium. I sat on the west side section 103 on the 52 row and it was deafening most of the 4th quarter. I couldn't imagine how it was at field level. The only thing I could compare it too is maybe the first saints game in the dome after Katrina, but I think this topped it pretty easily.

I've been to all the games mentioned, including USC in '79.
And last night was rivaled only by Florida in '07 from my memory. Both were insanely intense throughout, and the noise levels were consistent the entire game.
My wife asked today if it was worth it to scream for 3 hours and then be hoarse for 3 days later.
Are you kidding me?

just watched the replay, STTD,B was unbelievably audible; and in the 4th quarter you couldn't hear the commentators over the crowd
I was worried we were on commercial break

STTD,B
My seats were in the student section about thirty rows up, just off the corner of the endzone. The bench erupting at the end of the 3rd sent chills down my back and the insane roar when they ran our way was even better
