He's young and I think he enjoys building upon our storied history here. As long as LSU gives him a hell of a raise after this year and keeps his salary among the top 2 or 3 in the country, I think he retires from here in 15ish years.

Dear Lord back to back to back to back to back national titles is mighty impressive in college baseball no matter what time period.

Dude, we're not winning 6 titles in 13 years. Assuming Jay stays here his whole career, it would be miraculous to get to 12 before he retires. He would be the Nick Saban of college baseball at that point with Skip Bertman being Bear Bryant. That's a LONG leap to make at this point. I don't think USC will have the most national titles forever but it may be another 25-50 years before they are overtaken.

Without tre Morgan’s play we don’t even make the finals. We finish 3rd or 4th overall.

His epic bunt defense was in the win or go home game against Wake.

Catching USC’s historic mark is within reach—provided LSU maintains a strong commitment to the sport while USC does not.

If LSU is fortunate enough to win this year, it seems highly unlikely they’ll repeat that success four times in the next decade, given the current landscape with NIL, the transfer portal, etc.

2 of our titles (Warren Morris and 23 Tre Morgan) we were 1 epic play from finishing runner up.

1) most titles in any sport are one play away from not being titles

2) for every one of those there are seasons that should have been titles that arent (eric walker getting hurt, jake slaughter, etc). For consistent programs it usually averages out over time.

We will catch them eventually but who even cares. There is a reason most stats on baseball broadcasts will say something like "in the last 40 years".

USC Baseball is Yale Football.

Yes but not in this old fart's life time.
Most all of the major talent is now in the SEC.
MIGHT be just as difficult to compete in and win in our own Conference !

College Baseball is not the same game as when we were on the tear with Skip , in reality it’s probably due to Skip.

It is much more difficult to win championships today than it was when USC was dominating and there were fewer than 20 schools in the country taking baseball seriously.

It's going to get even more difficult with the roster reductions.
