QBs making millions in CFB is a terrible plan going forward

Looking around the country, some of the highly touted returning QBs who took large NIL deals are not panning out.
(Nuss, Beck, Klubnik, Manning..)
Maybe, getting a lesser known kid for a lower price yields more because they still believe the idea of earning something to get to the NFL.
It’s not crazy to think if these kids already are millionaires and celebrities around the country before the season starts, that it might mess with their drive and preparation.

I think all players and coaches should play on pure commission --

such a selfish, horrible take.

Markets will adjust. They always do.

Why do you commies hate people making money?

I’m cool with kids making money, but the issue is these kids are paid contracts with zero ability to hold them accountable.
They collect their bag.. suck arse.. and then get to at worse be millionaires at 22 years old, and at best make the league?
That’s not a breeding ground for excellence.

Falling to the 6th rd in the NFL draft is what holds them accountable. Nuss ain't tanking because he's getting paid, he just sucks.

They aren’t blowing their chance at generational wealth by being a first round NFL pick just because they made a couple milion. Most of these guys were overrated coming into the season.

There is definitely a reason to show out in college.

You're talking about 18-20 year olds. They don't exactly have the most rational long term vision.

quote:True. However, OP mentions Manning, Nuss - they have legacy to not be a get rich quick.

A lot of this is short term and reactionary to QBs that just don't end up being good.

I legit don’t understand why athletic programs have anything to do with this stuff. If a player wants to make money off of their own image, go get an agent and do it. Why does the school have to be involved at all?

These players used to have youth and inexperienced as moral armor. Once they started taking these large sums of money all bets are off. People want their money's worth. I am waiting for someone to get sued for not performing

Guess I was out of the loop, but holy crap did not realize how much Nuss made
